I think I saw this restaurant on kitchen nightmares. You know the show with Gordan Ramsey. Not sure though, probably not. Looks really nice. I wouldn't mind going there

Sounds good to me. I'm all for it.

Greg, do you want to stick your neck out and take charge of the pre-SELEM dinner party for us? (How much deposit are they asking for?)

I checked.... it's not listed in any of the 49 episodes. We're good!

On the webpage there is an email sign up and if you do you get 20% off your first meal. Not sure what they will do if everyone uses a coupon but it's their deal, not mine.

Nice find, Greg. Sounds good to me as well. Although, Hooters would have been fine also!

I'm game too as long as the deposit isn't too much.

Deposit is refundable. Price of the food isn't.

    Default I'm planning to attend

Didn't know about SELEM until local Chris F. mentioned it.

I should be heading down with him, and looking forward to it!

Used to play with gas lasers (ALC 60x rebuild from MWK, multiline, Spectra Physics 2011 argon that I sold on here, others) and now have some solid state stuff laying around (and the ALC 60x still.)

Tinkered with lasers for years, never got to the point of doing anything commercial (never bought the PCAOM :-). Planning to build out first RGB diode based setup now that higher powered blurple lasers are low cost.

    Can't wait!

    Chris,

I don't think the deposit will be an issue, as long as we have a decent number of people commit to going Thursday. I'm working the details on this with Adam.

    Gary,

I didn't notice the email "next meal" discount on the website, but would be surprised if they honored this for a group reservation. We're not being charged anything additional for use of their private room, other than being asked for a deposit (they are allowing for separate checks, as well as some policy changes that I requested). One of the places I called told me that they didn't want our group, based on the impact it would have to their regular customers. If this works out, it would be nice to have the option of returning in 2012.

We'll have until 10:00 pm on Thursday night. My thoughts were for an earlier start, rather than later, considering we will have a large group (6:00 pm start?). I think I could come up with some "door prizes" for those that attend....

    Greg

Many people are asking me about my attending SELEM.

Most likely not. My possible new job probably (Prayers please!) possibly starts the 15th. I can't get a rental car as I only have a debit card, and I'd have to fly to get there and back. Getting from the airport late Friday night or early Sat morning would be a problem. So I'd have to fly into what, Charlotte, and find a way there?

Sorry guys, I'd love to attend. I just can't see how I'd swing it. I'd need a private plane or something. I'll try.

511 miles. IF I left the plant on Friday night at 5 PM, and drove till 10 PM, that would put me 300 miles out from Akron. I'd have a four hour drive in the morning, boots on the ground just Saturday and drive back all day Sunday. I'm game, but its not realistic. I'd need to fly.
