Close... galvos and lasers connect to an ILDa breakout board that puts a connection on the back of the projector which connects to the DAC which IS the printer port... (DB25 plug). The DAC could be an internal PCI card or USB connected device. There are a fwe boxes out know that you install the DAC in and the box connects to the PC via ethernet.

Do they even have DB25s anymore? My printer runs off of usb ..

Also you probably should not refer to it as a printer port just in case someone decides to plug a projector into a parallel port... And they are pretty uncommon in a modern pc... That and serial ports unfortunately are becoming a thing of the past... Thankfully there are good USB > serial adapters but no good USB > parallel adapters
