I have a pair on the way to see if it is possible to do some of my old magic. From what I see on test photos they have quite a large emitter which could be challenging but so were the Mitsubishi diodes and collectively we managed that eventually .

hehe I thought lets put something provocitive on it and see who bites first........ But back to the subject i don,t think lazerer will reveal his source and keeps that secret. That has nothing to do with him not being honest and open as a person but as soon as he reveals his source most of the people here wil buy directly from the source. True friends would stick with lazerer even if he would reveal his source and have to pay some extra for his service etc. But i would not advise him to do so The world works like this and at PL this works the same. Maybe there are a few who stick with him but i,m pretty sure when he does reveal his source allot of orders will be cancelled

Usually we agree, but here I am going to take issue with the "darkness" of this new diode source. We have as yet little or no good information regarding the collimated performance at practical diameters, the temperature dependence and wavelength variability or the long term availability of the diode. I like researching these properties and others such as andy must also and the result is a well understood laser that the general population can design around. You build for an income and it doesn't make sense to design a host, driver , optics or even a projector around the anticipated output of these diodes if there are say only 10 left on the planet with no expectation they will ever be produced again.

If Lazeere claimed to be the manufacturer (just hypothetically) and said these will cost $XX then we at least would know that they are available and where to go, but in his initial post he stated that he bought up this lot as surplus from a contractor. I for one am not going to even look at these unless some long term availability is more likely
