Want to learn shows.

Having that background will help; I wanted to be a DJ for a long time, still do, but the cost of tables and music turned me away. I guess that is why I have been able to spend so much on lasers; I didn't have that obsession take all my money.

The DJ and Music Studio robbed me of all my money. That and the music collection. I am more of the DJ that hates computers and laptops. I challenge most of the new DJ's to use two turn tables and beat match without the help of the computer programs. I compare the two with. Guitar hero and learning to play the real thing.

i know exactly what you are talking about concerning the iShow, been there and trying to forget about it

may i suggest this new software alongside with a riya lite DAC?

this all should cost you somewhere around 280usd plus shipping and you will have the unique opportunity to live the evolution of a programm and have many more at the same point of the learning curve as you (so better support, more opinions etc)

i also have the riya lite dac and i can say it is a very nice and easy piece of kit.

i don't think it comes much cheaper

the only cheaper solution is keep the iShow dac and purchase spaghetti (there is also a sale on this one for a few days)

I too am just starting so take my advice with a grain of salt. I hear a lot of good things about Spaghetti sofware and I have that. It went on sale a while back at $100 but if you can gather together IIRC $79 you can get it from Gary tonite for that. My DAC is one made by adam(300EVIL) and he gives them to us at reasonable pricing -cheap as DIY kit form or put together for only a little more. Adam is a busy guy tho so have patience with him.

The LSX is awesome, new , and a good one too(i hear) and it also is for now offered at a very reasonable price from a very reputable member Dr Lava(andrew) for a limited time.(introductary price)

i can not comment on the new software by Dr. Lava but i have read and heard many good things. but if you are interested in programming shows you DEFINITELY need to at least get into a pangolin quick show unit. excellent multi track timeline and a great starting point to programming shows.

again i am not steering you away form the news LSX software by Dr Lava, just suggesting to look into Pangolin also.

It burns me up to see remarks like this. Not saying Pangolin or LSX or whatever isn't good, but if you are going to say that YOU DEFINITELY need to get into Pangolin software you should at least state that you are a salesman for Pangolin software. It seems like everyone on here is selling something these days and everyone and their friends are pushing each other's products. Everything is a bit too biased these days.

I'm not sure how to fix this problem but I'd be the first to step up with a voluntary disclaimer in my sig line that says that I sell Spaghetti and any comments in regards to Spaghetti and/or any other software should be taken with that in mind.

Anyway, that's my rant for the evening. My apologies to Marc for using his post as an example. Nothing personal.

I am not selling anything and promoted Spaghetti because of his iShow DAC even though I have no experience with it...

I personally make shows and use Showtime on a Pango QM2000; if this was a thread on show creation using any software I would suggest Pango for the reason I have experience on it and have had great support from Bill and his team, not because I am friends with him. That is also not to say I would not like to try Andrew's new software... I just ain't got the cash right now... I have also thought of getting Spaghetti because of your efforts on the forum, but I haven't had much luck getting my soundcard DAC going with my copy of LDS so I was hesitant to try another program with it... and I just sold it today.

Whereas I have no doubt Andrew's software is very good, it sounds like it could be a little advanced for the OP.

QuickShow does have the advantage of being very easy to use albeit in creation and timeline terms there are limits to what you can do (hence the existence of more expensive software). Equally though, many on here do use it for professional live shows.

For ease of use, especially for live playback its impossible to find anything easier with the same power level in my opinion.

That said, although I haven't seen any recent builds, I'd certainly recommend Gary's Spaghetti software for anyone wanting a very cheap entry into lasers and show creation as from memory, it is very easy to use, and combined wth a soundcard DAC can let you get into lasers for maybe $120. It's just not as advanced as QS.

Also, what is a good software option that will work with the Ishow dac, and can be afforded by I broke family man....

You could sell some of them 1200 records for a bit o cash... Broke family men usually don't get far with this "hobby".
