    Default Want to learn shows.

    Hello,

I am looking for some shows. I would like to see how they are made, and learn some techniques on making shows.

I am very limited on my gear. (crappy iShow) and 20k galvos. But we all have to start some place.

If anyone has some shows they are willing to send or point me to that would be greatly appreciated.

Also, what is a good software option that will work with the Ishow dac, and can be afforded by I broke family man....

The only decent software you are going to be able to use with that DAC is Spaghetti which I have no experience with; hit JohnYayas up as he is the creator of Spaghetti. From what I understand there are some Spaghetti shows on the FTP and the support here on the forum is pretty good.

The best advice I can give for making shows in any software is to know your music intimatly; listen to the song over and over again until you hear it in your sleep.

One thing that I know is music, and how it is created.

I have been making electronic music since 1985, also been a collecting music since I was a little one. Have about 1200 LP's and 2000 CD's.

At least I have one thing down. But the beams, and how to make them pop is new to me.

    Thanks I will contact him.

I'll add my newbie advice concerning show creation -

If you're doing beam shows, keep the images fairly simple.
Images that look good projected on a screen (abstracts, etc.) frequently don't look that great when viewed as overhead beams.

Well-timed, frequently changing and moving basic shapes can make for some VERY effective beam shows!!
With the right amount of smoke and proper lighting conditions, simple shapes, with various shades and colors, look great!!

One thing for sure. I may not be learning squat till I get software that is worth a !!!

Time to sit down for hours and see if this can even do a simple show.

My know your music point was more to the exact song you are making a show to, not to music in general. I meant know every beat of the show song by heart so you can predict it in your sleep. This will help you create frames and effects for your show. Not that I don't envy your music knowledge and collection.

I see beams in my mind, along with layers of light and other abstract points when I hear a song.

What i will need to learn first I "think" is how do the beams look. IE if you just place dots in random spots, or would it look better to draw little squares instead of just placing dots. How do the wave forms look, or what is the correct way to draw them?

I need to get this projector build. I have a set of spacelas 20k (sure they only work at 10K) but heck it is a start.

Being a music producer in the electronic genre and also a DJ (for whatever that's worth now *shrug*) I love the fact music can change a rooms mood or influence a persons feelings. I hope to get both passions to flow into one.

Having that background will help; I wanted to be a DJ for a long time, still do, but the cost of tables and music turned me away. I guess that is why I have been able to spend so much on lasers; I didn't have that obsession take all my money. I am glad most music is in digital form and easier to get than it was when I wanted to be a DJ; records cost so damn much. Once you get a projector going and if you need some help let me know; it seems some people think I make good beam shows.
