The only pirated lasersoftware i ever heard of was Mamba black (and you can even buy it at a laser webstore in The Netherlands), so it seems to me the Copy protection measures are doing what they are supposed to do.

Copy protection for niche software works pretty well generally. Since most 'crackers' as it were, do it to 'make names for themselves' more than anything else.. and software that not many people would have a use for.. even just to play with.. wouldn't fit the bill as worth the effort for the most part.

Also. Do you have any idea on when you'll be able to send me an invoice for the stuff I inquired about Andrew? I'd just purchase from your webstore but some of the items like the 445 corrective lenses aren't listed there. At least not that I can find.

I've read and re-read this thread a couple times and am going to get this software but, I'm not clear yet on what you need to have to run it. Can you actually USE a QM2000 yet? Or, is that just something that's planned for the future? How about the DAC included with Moncha 2.1 since I have one of those? FB3?...check. I'm getting a soundcard DAC through 300Evil as well soon too... will THAT work? I don't want to have to buy yet one more piece of hardware in order to use another piece of proprietary software.

If it will work with the QM, then an order is forthcoming. If it's NOT ready for the QM, will it be by the time SELEM rolls around?

LSX is getting output from the QM, but it's still being tuned up. I'd expect that it would be fully operational by SELEM.

It's out-of-the-box compatible with the Moncha DAC, as the makers of this DAC saw value in LaserCam and ILD SOS compatibility so they were proactive in sending a device for testing and support. Thank them!

For FB3 support, see the statement here and request that an API be released from your FB3 vendor!

LSX also supports sound card DAC output for unprotected shows and shows that you create. If you look back, you'll see that I played a part in making the sound card DAC as popular as it is by writing the interface (EzAudDAC) that makes it act like a laser DAC, not just playing wav files. I'm a big fan of the sound card DAC for hobbyists, tinkerers and beginners on a budget, so it's supported as much as possible. Once you get to this software, you're moving a bit beyond beginner, so the desires of show authors are taken into account, they are the ones who have the final say about what happens to their creations.

I don't want to have to buy yet one more piece of hardware in order to use another piece of proprietary software.
LSX is about as non-proprietary as you can get. It's just that often times hardware is proprietary, and compatibility can be difficult when not blessed by the hardware vendor. Fortunately, you have several good options, at least one of which you already own. Thank you for posting!

Thank you! So...when I go on the website to order, would you suggest putting in my QM serial number or referencing the Moncha DAC instead? Is the actual software different? I use LD2000 almost exclusively but, still have my old Moncha DAC floating around. I'm probably opting for the pro version as well. The value of the added shows alone make it worth it.

    Thanks!

Currently, the Moncha DAC isn't supported as a DAC dongle, only RIYA and QM. This might change in the future, but for now I'd suggest using your QM serial or ordering a USB dongle. The software is the same no matter which option you choose, in fact you'll be able to use the Moncha and QM and other DACs off of different timelines at the same time if you wish.

Thanks again for the quick reply. Please forgive me for not understanding one of your comments though. A couple of posts back, you said Moncha was:

It's out-of-the-box compatible with the Moncha DAC, as the makers of this DAC saw value in LaserCam and ILD SOS compatibility so they were proactive in sending a device for testing and support. Thank them!

But then in the last post:

Currently, the Moncha DAC isn't supported as a DAC dongle, only RIYA and QM. This might change in the future, but for now I'd suggest using your QM serial or ordering a USB dongle.

Unless I'm missing something with the history of Moncha (from Showtacle)... what I have from them is: a little black plastic box that connects to the computer via a USB port and then connects to the laser projector via an ILDA cable. I've always thought that box was called a "dongle" and that it contains the DAC. Am I not clear on something? Thanks in adavance for your answer!

Yeah, I found that confusing too!
