the sync is real time based on the audio data being played. it's very easy to do effects like this.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

It would be nice if there were a digital reverb for the image like echoes to slow it down.

LSX is pretty damn awesome. I created this effect in under five minutes from scratch:

    (Apologies for cell phone quality)

It's a square frame drawn in Quick PicEdit, repeated a few times horizontally, and the vertical size is being modulated by the real time audio input.

    Other footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvOmXZbHRng

This vid shows (partially, from 0:29) the 3D version (and better quality :P), where the X and Y rotation are controlled with the mouse in real time. Also shows the audio visualisation in the end. This took a little bit longer than five minutes, as it took me a while to figure out how normal vectors work in PicEdit. Still doesn't work very well but it's good for now, I'm happy.

Chad: what do you mean? Could you clarify yourself?

coloured, love your concept, here.. nice execution. It has the old school feel of someone on a knob box and analog rotator. Are you using the remote zero for live control? You deserve more colours, don't you think?

Heh, yeah, that's an old version of my abstract show posted here: http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...893#post232893

It uses the sliders for controlling the effect, so just mouse control. I would like to have some more options such as MIDI control hardware with a bunch of sliders, but those are ridiculously expensive, and I focus on adding other colours for now.

    Hi Dr Lava,

I plan to evolve from LDS 2010 PRO to LSX PRO. As I already have the activation DONGLE of LDS, is it still possible to buy a new dongle? the "old" LDS dongle has some problem of bad contact, it disconnects sometime when I use the soft and this is really annoying. The USB socket don't hold properly.

    Thank you,

    Miikkkllll

Yes, it's possible to update to the LSX dongle when upgrading from LDS. Just mail in your LDS dongle and choose a new dongle when you order.

Can LSX sync to an external SMPTE time code input and track the timeline to it? Also what options if any are there for DMX or TTL out with basic?

Yes, it can - via the MTC interface (MIDI time code). You need an smpte input box that outputs MTC, typically over USB.

for DMX there are newer RIYA controllers that support it, also easylase. Those ebay enttec pro DMX controllers will be supported when one shows up in my mailbox for testing. The same RIYA controllers support TTL. However I don't currently suggest using more than one RIYA controller at once, so you can use that for your TTL/DMX if you choose, along with other controller types in any combination.

Thanks Drlava, I am starting to collect the parts, have a box on the way to convert adat sync to MTC a datasync2 by jlcopper; this way i won;t have to stripe TC to a record channel. It doesn't have USB out, but my soundcard has Midi in, or I also have a midiman (m-audio box) that converts midi to USB. Next up the DAC. Does LSX support the 16 TTL I/O lines available on the Riya 3in1 card. Do you sell the card?

Also can LSX read the TTL input lines and record them sync'd to the timeline slaved to the the MTC? I ask as I have some interactive custom beam table controllers that I love, but would really like LSX to record there output live so I could use LSX completely for the playback.

    Your thoughts? Thanks!
