I believe those are the one swami posted in this thread:

It's some of his early attempts though...

Default I See the light / LSX Question / Our Community

    All,

Well I upgraded from LSX lite to Basic thinking I had a target world issue limitation and that was why I could not play (among others) Dr. Lava's first (beam) show from his recent post. That was not the problem.

Andrew explained that he chose to lock his beamshow; the issue was that when using a soundcard DAC the show is locked (I believe it would be able to play when using a DAC with a serial number, but not sure on that). The thinking being it is to easy to re-distribute the show by recording the sound card output signals... OK... I get that.

The several past months of reading has helped me further understand that soundcard DAC users are not respected, or at least frowned upon... OK...

For me this is a hobby and a large part of the fun is building your own equipment (as I did both my RGB projector and DAC), but I understand and respect we must protect the artist's work... OK, makes perfect sense.

Now here is what I don't understand; if anyone knows please let me know as I'd rather not bother Andrew on this...

So if I buy a commercial DAC, lets say a Riya from Dr. Lava's web site that would open the possibility of playing more shows because the shows can be linked to the DAC serial number and purchased or unlocked on the show's authors terms. (Is this correct?)

** Now why is a RIYA DAC $145 with LSX Lite, $255 with LSX Basic, and $305 with LSX Pro ? **
    * Is the DAC different hardware with these levels or is this a 'marketing' thing that charges the user more for the same DAC since they are paying more for the Software? *

Is there something more I am not understanding? The last question presented is the one that really has me pondering....

    Thanks guys,
    -Jason

soundcard dacs are frowned on, not because they're cheap. they work, but they're little more than an ugly kludge and have a number of limitations and quality issues that don't exist in dedicated dacs. content protection is only one part of the picture.

you're confused about riya DAC models
    the pricing structure is:

    145$ riya lite dac
    225$ riya basic dac
    305$ riya pro dac

the dac versions/models have nothing to do with the LSX software version. an explanation of various features and models can be found here: http://www.riyalasers.com/

another dac to consider is the ether-dream: http://www.ether-dream.com/

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Sound card dacs aren't frowned upon, I think what you may be seeing in some posts from forum members is frustration with trying to support sound card DAC users who got into them just because they were cheap, not because they wanted to tinker and figure them out for themselves.

Personally, I love to support open and DIY projects. Have a look at the OLSD DAC. It's one you can build yourself, and I've even written code for it and mail chips to plug into it so it can work with LSX locked shows.

The RIYAs do have more color bits than the current OLSD DAC, just FYI but the OLSD DAC, and the EtherDream are good examples of supported 'community' DACs that you can DIY.

    Hi Drlava
    It's a long time I don't surf this site
Today I downloaded your latest software release to do a general update of my softwares, I would like to know if it's compatible with the Kvant Atom embedded ilda interface.

    Best regards

ilda is not bound to any software, it depends on the dac you're using and those are usually bound to some software

    Hi,
The Kvant Atom uses the Moncha.net interface, which does have an SDK released. LSX, ILD SOS, and LaserCam do support the Moncha.net via the latest stcldevices oem driver interface.
