Default Show and Lasertennis @ Opening new Dutch hackerspace

    Hello all,

Yesterday i was doing a lasershow at the opening of Bitlair, a new dutch hackerspace where i became a member. For those unknown to hackerspaces, it's a social meetingplace where people with shared interests in computers, networking, electronics, programming can meet and work on projects together.

The place is in a big barn next to an old farm. Walking out the farm there is a field which is not in use and we can use to lit campfires etc.
There is a small pond/stream and across the stream there are some appartment buildings that are scheduled to be taken down. I thought it was a fun idea to project onto that building and doing Ronan22FR's Bromance show, since i really liked it a lot. I only added the Bitlair logo, to give the opening an official Bitlair sauce....

Before and after the show we played a lot of lasertennis made by the incredible Zoof !

Here are some movies, unfortunately shot with a mobile phone.

Opening, Ronan22Fr's Bromance show (to be found on pangolinshows.com website):

Sorry for the audio, the amplifiers and speakers were inside in the hackerspace 20 meter away from the projection place.

But we had fun, the hackerspace is housed in the same building as DJO (De Jonge Onderzoekers) which basically translates to "The Young Inventers / researchers".
The hackerspace can use the workshop (equiped with lots of pc's and solderingirons and electronic parts) on Wednesday and Sundays. DJO is there on Friday evenings and Saturday.

DJO has asked me to give a presentation about lasers to their group of 12-18year olds.
Really enjoyed Laserguys presentation so want to do something along those lines, in Dutch.

So had some fun, received great compliments, still need a lot to learn, but enjoyed it very much. If anyone has Ronan22Fr's contact details please PM them so i can thank him personally.
    I didn't fail !
I just found out 10,000 ways that didn't work.

Nice. I've been involved with the hackerspace scene since 2009 where I looked into doing an opening lasershow for Hacking At Random, however, Aldert (who can be heard in the background of this clip) refused it at that time. I've known most of these guys since the eth0 summer event of 2008.

Does the building of the Bitlair allow people to stay overnight? If it does, I can see some great mini-events coming up in the prelude to the big road trip to CCC-camp in Berlin. Might be worth looking into dropping some lasers there as well, unfortunately, I won't be able to make it this time.

    Hi Stoney,

Aldert asked me to bring my lasers to CCC camp ;-)
But i have my own LANparty in Germany during that time.

Will probably get involved regarding lasers in 2013 at the Dutch event.
I don't know if the building permits sleeping, i will ask in June when they have their LANParty there. There is a nice attic with room. The hackerspace is only there on Wednesdayevening and Sunday afternoon, so bit hard to use the attic, although we used the space saturdayafternoon/night.

We'll see, first up is the LEM at PJ, followed 2 weeks later by the Showlem in UK followed one month after that by my German Lanparty Holiday, followed one month after that with the UKLEM 11, followed one month after that by the opening of The Reality (800 people Lanparty).

So that are my current "booked" events ;-)
    I didn't fail !
