I will never ever buy an ishow dac, it's an unreliable piece of crap.

You can't say this, as you have never owned and tested one. You just base your opinion on hear-say.
I would only take this sort of opinion from a technical guy that has actually touched one of these (like many in this forum)

don't be confussed, i am not disagreeing with you, i own one and i know that it is not good

@kl79: good thinking. I have one, was considering selling it, but then i started thinking exactly like you do. My only second thought is that a riya multibus lite sells for only a few dollars more, so why not go that way and have a much better dac?

I agree, but well seeing all the complaints that come from that dac... when there is being talked about it (which it hardly is) then yeah.. i kinda can realise it isn't good

Don't mis-quote me as I have never used this DAC, but I do recall Gary saying the DAC is ok when used with Spaghetti, all be it low resolution. Ergo, I assume the software is more carp. than the DAC.
    This space for rent.

well, if you screen the complaints carefully, you will see that they are not actually complaints , as not many people who write have actually tested and owned one.

It is just one of the three tabboos of this forum. iShow, laser pointers and LaserWorld. None dare post about these and none dare post against pangolin
Anyway, i don't care at all about such things, the wealth of knowledge and knowledgable people here exceeds these taboos by a factor of a few million times.
And for this, i am more than GRATEFULL!

Caveman and cake look similar as well.

However, its hard to tell if they're exactly the same without seeing the actual ishow programme.

The thievery in the ishow package is plain pathetic.
I mean, how much would it cost to have a bunch of Chinese employees trace / convert a pile of random clipart for a month ?

My only second thought is that a riya multibus lite sells for only a few dollars more, so why not go that way and have a much better dac?
At least the RIYA dac isnt notorious for freezups and static hotbeams.

The iShow DAC works but does not work well. I have had more driver/connectivity issues with my RIYA than the iShow to be honest. What do you expect from 8 bit XY and TTL RGB?

Would anybody today even consider buying an 8 bit audio device

The sad thing is, it sells so good because it comes with tons of stolen artwork.

I don't think that is the reason it sells well. I'd say it has to do with being all over Ebay and is very cheap. You can go on Ebay and pick up an IShow DAC and scanner for less that the prices of some DACs (no software) alone. If you are starting out and all you can afford is a scanner, throwing another $100 at an iShow just to be able to test it and get you going doesn't hurt the wallet too much. It's like having a weekend home improvement project and going to buy a tool from Harbor Freight instead of Snap-On. Only an idiot would buy a $1000 tool if they can get through the weekend with a $100 knock off.
