    UPDATE: Because of problems with customs, and a supplier that got greedy, I now have to buy all components from within the EU.

    Unfortunately this has affected the price a little. Price is 60 euros from now on.

    As some of you may know, I have been developing a Quad diode driver in co-op with Edison.

    Today I have finished testing and fine tuning the prototypes, and will be ready for mass production in about a week.

    I present QuadDrive 1:

    Board is 48x63mm with 4mm mounting holes.

    Each channel has its own modulation input. Perfect for mixed 660/640/445 builds.

    0-2A analog modulation + 0-0.5A bias for a total of 2.5A per channel.

    5-24V Supply voltage

    Standby beam suppression for blue LDs. (Can be disabled by jumpers).

    Price: 60 Euros

    Sounds great, so in theory, each driver could run 8 blue diodes at 1.25amps each right????

    Yes that,s right. better to put them in series tho. You have 12v as input power so 2 diodes on 1 channel is easy With a Kit like this you have a complete set to build a
    professionals quality Red laser. They are on sale in this thread:

    So we getting there guys not nessesary to buy an expencive Kvant, arctos, RGB lasersystems module anymore now we the DIY combo

    Very nice concept driver, but aren't you dissipating allot of heat when driving red diodes on a 12V supply?

    for example, if you drive a red 640nm diode @ 300mA, Vop= 2V= 10V over the fet x 0.3A = 3W of heat generated for each fet = 12W of heat for the complete setup. thats allot of heat for 500mW of laser power. or am I seeing it wrong?


    The driver I use (also with blue beam, supression) made by a very skilled member of this forum uses a onboard SMPS to set power to the driver just above the Vop of the diode to get a very efficient driver.

    It depends how many red diodes you have in series I guess.

    I don't see any problems running diodes in series, its a lot safer than parallel IMO
