Yep, its all in the thread I linked up the page a bit in fact, with a post from Bill explaining what its all for and how to use it.
@allthatwhichis - I'm not sure it was designed 'just' for testing, its just an alternative, which turned out was the preferable option for most people. I guess the original aim of the FB3 (as a standalone player, as much as just a DAC) was not as popular as originally thought.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

I understand and was not intending that it was only for testing; I just wanted to advise how those pin holes were used during production of the boards for reassurance of that being an acceptable way to get the board to use USB power.

I'm in the middle of running a 400 person wedding so, I haven't had time to study the replies but, here is the board.

    Thanks!

QUICK fix - the solder points we've been referring to are right on top.

Thanks for the photos and answers. I hope to heat up the iron this afternoon and give 'er a whirl.

Etched on the PCB is was the "XE" but, on a paper label was the "SE". Plus, I thought somewhere in Pangolins paperwork/website, I thought I read the XE was not in an enclosure and the SE was but, upon further reading, I guess it's the SE without an enclosure and the QS version that IS in an enclosure. Yesterday was a crazy day so I didn't really get a chance to double check things before posting. In a perfect world, the QS version would be my preferred FB3 but, since I can jumper it and still run off USB, then maybe I'll get ambitious one of these days and find a box to mount it in.

Edit: Soldered and working on USB only.
