ja wunderbar. next, drill some holes and enlarge the umbilical exit hole where it meets the sheet metal.
Feed through and drop. So far so good.
Beautiful work as usual Mr. Brent. You've probably mentioned this before, but what various things go through that rather large umbilical?
Hi m2b thanks for the compliment!! It is always great to hear and sincerely appreciated. I often spend weekends alone working on these machines so it is nice to have friends over to be able to share it, however virtual. There are two fiber optic cables that feed the scanner head and electrical wires that contain the scanning signals and control the effects wheels that are packed in the sphere at the top. Karl and Swami helped me test it out using an ALC60X instead of the Chroma 5 and we watched a bunch of shows that were on the HD24. In a bit of other news, I got a call yesterday that the Spitz 512 that Karl helped me install in Colorado sprang to life yesterday and powered up under the dome... A single connection related to the elevator left had to be bridged over, something that had us stumped for awhile as this machine has no pit elevator function. High school students will soon benefit from these efforts which were entirely volunteer and non-profit. It feels good to give back a little bit of what I've been given.

It's taken a long time to get to this point. Always good to feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel and extend a second lease on life to what may be considered "vintage" technology. I learn to appreciate older equipment even more after pricing "state-of-the-art".

That guy would look great dressed up as the Black Monolith (Space Odyssey) and out pops the head.
Yes, that is a perfect notion!
Mounting holes drilled and hardware attached. Gantry support ropes detached. Fresh oil added to the gear reduction chamber.
