A tray of Karl bait ready to be stuffed with cheese and grilled in anticipation of his arrival for yet another session of AVI Omniscan fine-tuning. On the docket tonight, Pink Floyd The Wall, Laser U2 and a few others. Saturday night always used to be laser-show night back in the day at the Seattle Science Center. This reminds me of then..good times. This is the closest I have ever been to replicating that experience. Low-tech technique being applied here to adjust the fiber feed and eliminate the trio of mirrors that we used last weekend. We hope to double or triple the power this time.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Spectacular results, and the roasted peppers turned out perfect on the BBQ. Each time we work on this system, it gets better. This time the beam was bright enough to burn a piece of wood. It is great to see alot of hard work pay off, and even better when there are friends to enjoy it with. As it turns out, flushing the toilet during a show will shut the laser down due to water pressure drop. The front yard got a good soaking and I have more flowers in bloom than any of the neighbors, thanks to all the expended coolant. Graphics filled the ceiling and wrapped down the walls and the audio tracks were sent through the house stereo. My personal favorite is a show called "Hypnotica". I would like to see some of Swami's show material in this format, that will really be something to look forward to. I will gladly put more roasted peppers on the fire for that ! I am anxious to add star field displays as a backdrop for these images, the main reason why I started this thread in the first place. These behemoth star machines await their turn for attention, each one with another mission to fly.

These pictures were taken during several shows: Hypnotica, Vinyl and The Wall. I had the camera on a tripod and captured over 50 images whenever I saw an abstract that I liked. I skipped all of the corndog stuff, the goofy cartoon images because I only like abstracts. If I want cartoons I can watch SpongeBob. Some of the sequences in these shows are breathtaking and my compliments to the artists at AVI that did this work -- albeit, many of these shows (if not all of them) were created over a decade ago. The still camera cannot do the images justice and there is nothing quite like seeing it live. Despite using an Argon laser instead of white light, these images were both mesmerizing and entertaining minus the cheesy cartoon line drawings. I watched the link you sent, now that has real class and truly represents kinetic art at its very best. I can hardly wait to see your work in wide-angle, on this equipment and it will be even better when we can use the krypton head instead of the HGM8. The hardware is working and all it needs is updated, artistic show content set to modern music to bring it all up to date. Hopefully Pangolin will still let me trade in this QM32 card for the new one when I can finally afford it, and then I can get off Win98 too. An interesting aspect of this project is that there is always something more to upgrade, but the basic platform is still viable. It is also old-school, the way I like it. I will provide the roasted peppers, anytime.

Karl said he cannot see the HD24 control panel in the dark, so I got one out of the back of the stereo that I never use. That's a good idea, I can barely read the HD24 buttons in the daylight because its in mouse font. I also dug the heat exchanger out of the closet, the one that originally came with the Omniscan. I hope to start messing with it this week. The cart has glow-in-the-dark tape all over it, which is kinda neat.

I second that, totally amazing! Do you have any details about the Omniscan system, is it some kind of fish eye lens or special scanners?

Did Karl get the current measured? Scale factor is 20x Isampler plug reading. Lower limit P. is towards the passbank, upper limit P is towards the magnet when looking at the board. Karl has been told what to do to correctly configure it...

Thanks Jem, indeed I will keep sharing it's more fun that way. Is there a way to post video on PL, or do on YouTube with a link? I was going to fire it up last night and take a few more pictures but the water softener was regenerating and flushing brine, and I didn't want to run the laser while this was happening.
