Si I never actually got round to ordering any isolation transformers but with further investigation it seems like unfriendly buzz is coming form the switch mode running the scanners.

I've got a shipment heading out to me fairly soon so I will look into the iso-trans again.

i got the same once with a 24v smpsu powering a set of scanners, when i left the ground terminal not connected
when i connected it everything was ok.

so, i'm afraid we go back to the grounding issue. now, where is that dog?
