    Hi

Complete newbie here. Also on Mac...

I bought the very same projector which for sub £200 is great for personal use .. I say great in the way that mp3s are great to an audiophile.

I have issues with the My Effects Laser Controller software (looks like a Mamba clone from the screenshots) running on some old windows laptop I found..

I can create rudimentary frames with with text and an also trace a background image but the problem I have is that the resulting frames are flickering and strobing when played on the projector. All of the onboard shows (ild files) produce much cleaner consistent lines. I did RTFM but the F'ing Manual is not great. Would like help with this or if someone can point me to someone who can help create a couple of animated logos I would be very gateful.

@bigaldo... I noticed I had not set the colour of the text etc which led to the single dot problem..

    Thanks

    Nick

    Default Thanks all

I'll double check on the single dot thing and make sure my guitarist set a colour, the onboard stuff is fine and most people in the bars and clubs we have played have been impressed with them, I'd just like to get our bans logo up there
    Cheers

You may want to see if someone else could make an .ILD of your band's logo on another software application to see if it loads better onto the SD card.

Okay, a while back I posted on here about this same low end laser, I too wanted it to just shoot up the name of our promotion company.
My first stumble was the software that came with it was a virus, my comp tech friend worked around that or found a clean version and tried his best to make me a promotion logo but it never worked right, it turns 360 gets about 2/3's of the way and snaps the rest and he could only get green to work but it almost is green with a red shadow or edge to me, my friend gave up.
The company that sold it ended up giving it to me for free when I said we couldn't get it working and the software was infected.

I pretty much gave up on it because while it comes with some cute and cool animation the drawbacks are it whizzes though them way too quickly, and some are seasonal like Santa and Rudolf.
Back when my friend was messing with it I asked him can you just edit what came with it, slow it down and remove the seasonal stuff, perhaps extend some of the cooler stuff and he couldn't even make that happen.

I even tried to copy the SD card that came with it and remove just the things like santa and when I would try to play that card, it wouldn't work.

back in those days We lost our venue and took a break the laser was packed away forgotten now we have an up coming show and I was hoping to use this thing,
I am curious since they still sell these has anyone been able to program it with any satisfaction?
Perhaps pay someone more savvy for a SD ready to go.
What is a good and better yet free or cheap user friendly software than we might take another go at getting it to work,

Even just some generic stuff from it ( like my mini galaxian ) would be wonderful at this point.

I can post a copy of the so called manual if you tech heads so desire.

I for to mention we were using PC but have both PC and MAC

    Many thanks!
    Cheers,
    P.

    MORO IN BRAZIL.
AND I ALSO HAVE A CARD WITH THESE SIMPLE LASER.
AND I CAN CREATE VIEW AND LOGOS, TEXT FIXED AND SCROLL OF TEXTS.
HAVE A GREAT AMOUNT OF FREE PROGRAM THAT SOLVE MY PROBLEMS.
LASER TO PAID PROGRAMS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE, IF COMPARED TO THE PRICE OF EQUIPMENT.

CREATE A GOOD PROGRAM IS HARD.
CREATE A GOOD EQUIPMENT IS HARD.

COPY A PROGRAM IS EASY AND CHEAP.
A COPY IS HARD AND EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT.

NOT JUST THE PRICE OF PROGRAMS BE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE PRICE OF EQUIPMENT.

LaserBoy has the ability to create ILDA frames with text and many other features.

It is probably the most sophisticated laser art creation application that runs in Mac OSX.

    http://laserboy.org/forum/index.php?topic=555.0

It also runs in Windows and Linux (and probably others) all natively.

And it's free and open source!

    Get the latest version:
    http://laserboy.org/code/LaserBoy_2013_04_14.zip

    See this for text frames:

For the adventurous and electronically inclined, it is also possible to build your own laser DAC, from a 6 or 8 channel sound card, that will work with Mac OSX, Linux and Windows, known as The LaserBoy DAC.
