Yes, I do it all the time on non-Asian Galvos.
On the Asian boards they often change component values, or use strange notch filters etc. So some times I have to change a cap or a resistor. This makes adapting a Asian amp an adventure in reverse engineering.
Most Asian Galvos are clones of the classic Cambridge 6800 and the 6850 amp.
Do you gain PPS by using a 40K driver with a 20K rated scanner, not likely.
Take a scanner tuning class at a LEM before you try this.
The problem is the scale factor for a given position sensor can be quite different from manufacturer to manufacturer. As is the coil resistance. This can require some work to recalibrate.
They change the pin-outs as well.
So until you blow up a pair trying, plus learn to tune scanners using a oscilloscope, NO, don't try it.
