This is a "double edged sword." scenario. I agree that is is Kind of inappropriate to ask a cusomter to pay a preferred way. HOWEVER- I am a business and ABSOLUTELY DESPISE Paypal and try to avoid them at all costs!! It is pretty easy to say, "they aren't big enough to be able to afford to absorb the costs of using Paypal." While that may seem true, you need to look at it from a big picture point of view. Yes, a $5 fee or a $10 fee here and there is manageable. But Paypals fees for business are now up to ~4.5%-5.5%.

you start adding up those fees over >$500 transactions (which 99% of laser module sales are >$500 sales) and you start to acquire some ASTRONOMICAL fees. My Paypal fees for last year alone were ~$15,000. that is just RIDICULOUS! That's a good portion of someones salary that I could have been paying to advance my business! While my regular credit card fees fell short of $2200. Which would YOU prefer??

Also, Paypal does almost NOTHING to protect the seller. Other than putting a pretty little icon on their screen that says "Seller protection." I am currently trying to recoop (sp?) over $4000 in "lost" Paypal transactions from outright theft and it is now going on over 7 months. Of which $2500 of that they already said will probably NEVER be returned to me.

PayPal is a tool that works good for buying and purchasing a few things here and there on E-bay. thats about it. Trying to do "business" utilizing Paypal is just not worth it and should be avoided like the plague. Even more so in our profession/hobby seeing that most of our components are of high value and highly specialized.

    Just my input.

Whilst I see your point Marc, they could've offered a card transaction or similar. Most people wanting to pay by Paypal, do so because they want to pay by card (credit or debit). So one or the other is fine with me, its just easier for a retailer to set up with Paypal, than with a bank for credit card transactions.
As a retailer, I think you need to follow the line of most other retailers and what payment methods are accepted. Even if it means loading the price slightly to cover admin fees. Or simply go 'old school' and load the prices based on assumed credit card/paypal purchases and offer a discount for cash, as most high street retailers used to do if you asked (my Dad still always opens with '10% for cash?' everywhere he goes.... )

The point I'm making is that a company that I see as an International manufacturer, selling to end users worldwide has the feel of a firm that should have more options than just money transfer.

Some of us buy our expensive toys on credit, so can't do cash transfer. Kvant/Martin nearly lost my £2k sale because he couldn't take my credit card. It cost me over £50 in cash advance fees to get the cash to him which I felt bad about (and to an extent, soured what should have been an exciting moment). If he'd have just taken cards and told me the price was £2050 then I wouldn't have batted an eyelid. Buyer perceptions you see...

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

I have made serval disputee in my life and few claims. All helped well to getting my moeny back and that method never failed me once. Even one time when the seller had no money on his account. For me paypal is a great payment system.
But indeed their prices are extremly high.

    Thumbs up Payment methods

    Thanks for your input!

We are accepting different payment methods and take them into the fair situations. So we add the paypal fee. It is same with wire transfer that customers pay bank fee and intermedia fee to send money. We consider for customers so suggest that customers can save the paypal fee by personal payment.

Our principle is that benefits customers and benefits both. We always try our best to bring to customer best services. We have not had much business practices of western style and we are not into the culture. But we are open to different opinions. Thanks for your explanation! I learned.

    Your friend,
    David

David is delaying my 650nm order, with my permission.
They are making a 650nm Laser Module, wich has 1000mW output, has a 5x5mm beam and only has <1.5mrad.
Is that a sexy beam or not?
Should be finished and shipped in 2 or 3 days.

(okay i know there are better ones, but this certainly is good stuff!)
