The pid temp controllers for the tecs should be implemented in a pic with autotune functionality.
A feed forward of the modulation input to the tecs would be ideal to achieve proper modulation response.

A balanced input matched to the ilda output spec.
Sounds familiar.. a little mod to the LD-driver input (balanced input) and a mod on the output stage to accommodate the 3.3V supply voltage. Feed forward pid is implemented, auto tune algorithm is implemented (still needs debugging). 2 independent full bridge TEC channels (12V/±3A) PWM @ 250kHz filtered to give no more than 200mV of ripple. Do you think that 2 x 30W heating/cooling is sufficient?

would it be exaggerating if i asked for three tec controllers, all H bridge?

one to control pump diode temp (and thus pump wavelength), one to control yvo4 temp and one to control ktp temp???

If I'm correct, this driver is really aimed at the 1-5Watt range, cooling the yvo, is really a 5++ watt feature.
Besides that, the driver is aimed to be a used with standard oem heads that afaik don't cool the lasing medium independently.

i guess you are right bart... it is just that my secret hope for a PL developed green head always gets in the way and "clouds my judgment"

thanks bart that gives me some insight of what the driver should be
