    Default Which cable to run

I have a show coming up in a week. We are going to be controlling the lights from front of house so I need more cable length to my projectors. I am running Pangolin QS and have two projectors hooked up to the same signal from the one dongle. Right now I'm running about 50ft of cable to the first projector and another 25ft to the second projector. I need to add about 50 ft.

Should I extend the cable length by running a long USB cable to the dongle or adding more ILDA cable length? I'm afraid that too much length in the ILDA cables will cause some sort of voltage drop. What do you guys think?

USB was never designed to be extended passively above 15ft, ILDA can be extended to 300 ft if properly implemented (balanced).

Also keep in mind that degradation of analog(ilda) signals is proportional to the length.
So if you don't notice distortion at 50ft, it can't be all that bad at 100ft.

That in contrast to digital (usb) signals that become intermittent and more unreliable over length.
You will need special devices anyway to transmit usb relieable over these lengths.

Hey Mikey, as bart says USB is not really easily extended.

Do what I did recently, grab a couple of 30M IDLA cables from Danny (laserwinkle). They are good to go!

Run the longer ILDA cables. Extending by 50ft (15m) is nothing to worry about, I've run initial runs of 60 metres+ and then further daisy chained 20m+ from there.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
