Some on this thread had the temerity to call me "Grandfather". I'm still not that mad about the choice of patronymic...

    te·mer·i·ty/təˈmeritē/
    Noun:
Excessive confidence or boldness; audacity: "no one had the temerity to question his conclusions".

Well, "GRANDFATHER " let his fingers do the walking, and while cooling down after a evening Salsa class, GRANDFATHER STILL DELIVERS!

    Gentlemen, and Gentlelady

I give you, for your education, under a admittedly stretched educational use clause of the copyright law, a look at the following PDF, by Dr. P. NAGESWARA RAO

PDF that was here pulled per the educational rules. Hope you saw the file when it was up.

Note "Glass Type" allows the index of refraction to be specified and compensated for in the design.
Just building it without noting or specifying the glass type can result in significant errors.
Note that the element thickness, also specified, matters as well.
So dont expect much if you head to the Surplus Shed and just order by focal length.

LaF is still probably the best available glass for the prisms, there are some new Wunder-glasses, but good luck getting them cheap.

PDF will go away in less then a day, per educational use rules. Dont republish the PDF.. I know the mods at the other place, too.

This should set a example for proper drawings and exchanging results, as well.

Iwould be in for 2 pcs if verified the emitter size was the same as the G71.. wait .. above post says P71 and P73 .. is that G71 and P73 ?? I'm confused now ..
    P71 was a typo, soz.

So my info for both diodes came from a mitsubishi applications support design engineer, i do have an email some place where both diodes are stated as 40um x 1um emitter.

    Default The Saga Continues

“Say that she rail, why then I'll tell her plain, She sings as sweetly as a nightingale”…( Thanx Shakespeare)...The Red Grail Saga continues !!

As promised…the G71 in operation with the LDADM V7C Mount. The beam shots were taken by Clickamouse….as I have NO photographic skills what so ever !! Thank you CM !! Pinhole with a slot geometry cleans up the vertical wings with a 11 mW loss for a single G71LD. Hopefully the P73-2 will have the same optical properties…add a little TE…..and a 2.5 W quad after optics is within reach…Yikes…The Saga continues !! BEAM

Kiy...The typical 1.06 mRad....4mm x2mm at the nearfield aperature......and this seems to be the best balance we can get...and with that divergence...it is what matches the typical DPSS Green. Bottom line: Larger scanner mirrors will be demanded...like 6.8mm x 12mm ( EMS-4000) or 7mm x 12mm (DT-40Pro with large aperature mirrors). We are ruled by the Laws of Optics... That is just the way it is with multi-emitters. BEAM

    Yea very true.
I was kinda hoping that your precision setup might give better beam specs.
    How about power?
Is the positioning setup getting you any extra power vs the regular style mounts?
Yea im still looking for one more lens but im thinking we have hit the wall
For those who want to use a 4mm beam a 6mm scanner mirror will take it even with a decent scan angle.

Well...No power increase...just somewhat easier to dial in the optimal LD ==> to Collimation Lens position. BEAM

In your opinion is the adjustable mount needed?
For all the extra work is the gain there?
