Thanks for the distances. I think the bases I have will be too short! I'm still waiting on all my components so can't really help I'm afraid.
I'll give updates once everything is here.

Well, if you're talking about Dave's GB, In his pic below (borrowed from his GB thread) the distances appear less. Dave, what dimensions do you have for spacing of the new lenses?

I haven't posted on these diodes for some time and owe an analysis of max power with the P73 cooled (as well as a video re spatial filtering). In the meantime, I will say that I have been disappointed with the divergence performance of the P73 vs G71 diodes. With the G71's, operated as a quad, a near field of 4x4mm and VERY careful co-alignment 1.2mrad x 0.8mrad is possible. Using the same optics, and with the P73, even as a single diode 1.8mm x 1.0mrad is the best I can do. It is proportional, but with the much higher cost and the hassle of handling the open diode, I prefer the G71's.

lens spacing is around 20mm between the cyl lenses.

The first lens needs to be ~50-55mm away from the 2mm lens

Thanks for the dimensions Dave. Nice smooth group-buy you did there. Cheers :]
Planters: I thought it was just me but I seem to remember getting better results with the G71 too.

Thanks Dave - I look forward to trying this out.

Eric...it ALL depends on what you can live with on the nearfield geometry !! I get 4.3mm in the NF @ under 1mR divergence on the P73's I've tested...To me...they perform on par with the G71's....Of course....Methods vary for taking a measurement !! My farfield measurement is a 45' (11.5M )....perhaps that is not far enough ???...For my $$....the P73 is good to go !! BEAM OUT

    Hey Bob,
Are you using the newest setup from Dave's GB or something else now to acheive these specs? (I haven't had a chance to try Dave's newest cyl lenses yet) + the 2mmfl lens still?

I also agree with cdbeam , i am not really seeing
Any difference between the 71 and 73's
I am just finishing a quad p73 and so far looking
Very good , results and pics coming soon.

Hey Steve....Still using the ill-fated GB 6X from Kiyoukan. After this latest discussion....I went back and re-measured many times....Well...OK 4.6mm at the nearfield with about .73 mRad at the farfield. Since my ultimate goal is build Projector #2....I will be getting the biggest mirrors I can on the new scanners. I can always move the correction optics away from the 2mm Colli lens to reduce the nearfield to fit on the scanner mirrors. Engineering always involves trade-offs !!

I've assembled a dual using the P-73's. Challenging to get it all aligned....A quad will be even more fun....but PBS'ing is more forgiving !!

    Have Fun !! BEAM OUT
