    CD-Beam,

My brain comes from "Abbe Normal".*

here, used B&W surv camera with a half inch ccd, 99 cents USB capture card, 16 dollars.

May not be the now expensive Pulnix TM7CN I use, nor a professional frame grabber, but its a start.

I'm amazed how much my Pulnix has went UP in price. I paid 20$ a few years ago.

Slide camera along yardstick. Measure beam. I have no idea if the 16$ frame grabber is decent.

Image J or Scion Image is excellent freeware scientific image processing software and can BE CALIBRATED to measure with a given camera. A old hene makes a great calibrator.

    * Youngsters, get a DVD of young Frankenstein from Netflix, prepare to laugh your *** off. Mel Brooks is awesome.

I was treated to a live show of it on Broadway and a quick backstage tour of the revived show, two years ago. My thanks to the Laser Field Service Engineer who arranged that, and his sister-in law the stage manager.

I loved that... I needed the vacation, too.

You would not believe the automation in a modern Broadway show. But it still needs a huge backstage staff.

I have no doubts. Last thing I saw was Avenue Q. Quite ingenious and funny as all get-out

Same here. Missed Wicked as well.

Well, I am conceding here. Looks like the optics to make these even close are a touch much. My two 638s are going to be feeding my lumia. For the price/power, this works for me. Great work though, guys!

So, the final verdict was DrLavas cylinder lenses with some sort of collimating ashperic at the diode? Or something else ? I'm lost .. again .. (..guess I'll have to go back and re-read the last 5 pages ..)

Lol. Well, I am wanting for graphics, not beams. If I pinhole, I will lose too much power. Price/mW will be about the same as the opnext.
