2mm, in my last post I marked it wrong, after the first lens its smaller. I will measure everything up better in a bit because I want to also try some other lens combination for stacking .

Andyf, you should study the losses you are getting with the olike vs the 405-g-2. It's easy to miss the fact that with the aixiz/olike long focal length lens you'll get significant fast-axis beam clipping. So although a long focal length collimators helps decrease divergence, you quickly run into other issues and the whole picture must be accounted for.

DrLava, Yes I know but not using either lens now as they are way off compared to the newer results.

Of course losses are important too... but no point even starting to measure until the beam is great.

Wow, nice going you-all! I was going to settle for "good-enough", because these diodes are cheap and plentiful (like the 445s) . Yeah, I agree, some losses are ok, if the beam is decent. Cheers and nice work! Woo-Hoot !!!! :]

This is moving very fast. So the initial collimator lens is...? RE the loss issue; the beam is already great. It exceeds all the other direct diode beams available at any wavelength. This is why I am still skeptical and why we need the prescription of the new lens so others can verify these divergence results as well as look at issues such as loss, cost etc.

    Added numbers for reference.

Image 7 & 12 show the dimensions of the beam, this is after the little lens without any correction..and its tiny.

My little mount is not perfectly aligning the lens in the center so am getting a little scattering.

The spot on the tree is around 30 meters away and shimmering like a great laser should so this means its in focus..

AND, I am going to get this better.

we await the info on what the lens are ? and where to get them ? please especialy that first collimator your using
When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.
