What do you mean by a swing with temperature differences on the 445's? Power and wavelength seem to be only slightly affected by temperature differences to me.

all i know these reds are very sensative to temp,mine start dropping power no sooner than switching them on, and have to tec cool them to 20deg c,to keep the power up

Well here is my little contribution, beam can be improved yet, one diode is not centered on the lens. The beam shot is at about 25'
This is using the 405-g-2 lens, there is a 7% loss compared to using dave's Lens solution. I ate that in favor of having the beam height of 19mm. If anyone is looking for daves lens and mounts state side shoot me a pm would let them go for $50 a set have 2 Dave gets more than this plus shipping new.

I agree...to obtain most stable output....and likely increase LD MTTF....we need to TEC this one !!!
Also....I will be offering to supply the Cylinderical Lens Holder.....I must calculate the amount of time spent per unit....cost will be reasonable. Stay tuned !! Unfortunately.....we should all wait until the 6X Cylinderical lenses are tested....and hopefully found to be optimal.

New lens will surely offer better possibilities. For now this one is going on a second PJ and beam / lumia table so it will be very useful. Once I scan with it i'll also post pics. Still a little bit out. Though I do need to test some over sized galvo mirrors so maybe sooner than I think.
On the TEC, Any ideas on what size watt rating is needed for cooling diodes in general. ?

there was some math here calculating voltage, current etc and heat dissipation, but i was never good at it or at remembering any of it...
i think something small should do the job, maybe around 10watt max, placed close to the diode with the sensor close by. no need to cool the entire mount, just the upper part where the diode is
