yea the 2.5 is the lens i am wanting to get made.
Lets hope there is someone here who can design a lens or maybe has their own supplier.
3mm CA at 2.5mm FL should capture all the light. At least when running at .5Amps. Maybe some clipping at higher currents?

Actually, the more I think about it maybe a 2mm FL, 3mm CA, .6 NA would be better. If that's even possible?

The reason to go to 2mm would be easier stacking for a multi-diode set-up. Plus they might do well on LOC and opnext for multi diode set-ups. Just a thought.

    Video of the laser running.
Okay that video is super crappy.

    This lens looks damn close.

Well they have the info to get them made and maybe even with minor changes.

Just arrived and quickly tested today.. I have plenty of these 2mm focal length lenses/ retainers.

You can see the 3mm dia lens on the right, mounted on the left. I chose a 1 part retainer with a lens that glues in this time, as the lens needs to be extremely close to the diode.

Simon Pit8ull did a quick test and was getting a 2 x 4mm beam @ 1.1mrad with the lava cyl lens pair.. I did a even quicker test and verified they work, but with no test data

These also work great with DVD diodes ( very similar divergence to a uncorrected 445nm ), so I'm assuming they will work with the 63133's and the like

Not adding anything new or ground breaking here, just a couple of pics and a word of encouragement. Using dave’s 2.9mm FL lens, lens barrel, adjustable diode mount for diode centering and a pair of -12mm and +95mm I got from logsquared, I managed a nice beam less than 5x5mm at the last lens aperture and a 15x5mm spot (stripe) at 10 meters distance. This is a very acceptable 1.0 - 1,1 mrad of divergence that fits nicely on 7mm galvo mirrors. So, I’m pretty happy with this. I guess I will be even happier when a couple 2mm lenses arrive. No reliable power measurements, as the cyl lenses are not AR coated and where eating up around 30 - 31%.

I also attempted a quick and dirty dual with a pbs and waveplate using one 2.9mm FL lens and a 4mm FL opitima (I didn’t have a second 2.9mm). I would have got some really nice results out of this, but I somehow managed to get arctic silver thermal paste on a diode window and this screwed up my spot, quite enough so that I didn’t even want to take a picture of it. I think the paste will be nice and solid by now, after taking some photons head on -point blank. So, maybe this diode will end up in a lumia rig, as I have no tooling to de-can it. The bad thing is that I had no spare mitsu to drop in
However, I still consider the dual very duable. I was losing less than 10% through the waveplate and pbs (the ones from the last groupbuy) combined. Even with two different lenses and the thermal paste partially on one of the diodes (Istillfeelreallyupsetwithmyselfaboutthis@%$#%^%$* *) the beam was pretty much ok and usable. Still, I didn’t go for absolute power or anything, I’ll wait for some more up to spec glass for this. This is just proof of concept

I might try knife edging with these diodes sometime soon, as an alternative setup that could lead to a quad red.

In any case, there is no turning back to 660nm for me.

PS. The cyl lens arrangement does not seem too sensitive in pan and tilt movements. even cyl orientation is quite forgiving. But it sure is extra sensitive in diode rotation in the mount and perfect alignment of diode and lens due to the short focal length of the collimator

here is 2 diodes in a projector
perfect white beam! (600Mw 635NM OUTPUT POWER)
Next projector will be 6 diode's and give 1,8W bright red beam! we mix it with 4,8W 445nm and 2,5W green cni. will be a nice powerfull machine!

hey joost, now that rgb beasty would be something interesting!!!!
how do you think to combine 6 diodes? three knife edged and another three via a pbs? will there be any beam folding assembly like the one you posted a few weeks ago? and how many sets of correction optics? one for all or one in front of each diode?

Default X marks the spot !!

I have been very tied up with travel for work lately....so "Laser Fun Time" has been greatly limited !! Tried some surplus C-Lenses...deadend !! Been working with Kiyoukan...he came up with a concept...see attached drawing !! to knife edge two (2) beams...mid-correction...so each LD has a dedicated plano convex....then knife edge combine where the propagation has the smallest geometry....then a common higher mag. plano convex !! Then the standard WP and PBS for a quad...this is my current path...waiting on glass...as usual !! We will see how this works !!! The quest continues !!

Research is almost done - Testing with 2mm FL etc... I think the next problem to be faced is production. Any group buys?
