Ok post 839 (page 42 lol) Very nice!! Beautiful piece of crafsmanship CDB.. are you going to build those? Looks expensive.. I can't even attempt building something like that. no mill.. no lathe..
re: Marvin- ok, didnt see the little guy there .. I said "you gotta build that thang" .. talking about his weapon-super laser-gun (the labels on it are awesome)
-edit- .. and Planters said that your mount "sure looks nice" .. see? Luv abounds

Thanx Steve...sometime....I need the the Luv !!! and NOT feel like the " Duck " !! With the LDALM V4...the diode is entombed within the brass block....and the Collimation lens is adjusted. This way....the LD gets the benefit of the heatsink. And yes....flat black would be the most optically appropreate skin...but...I like brass. The material costs alone are around $ 25 USD. And add to that machining time....at about 3 hr each...so...they would be expensive....but since I am a " Hack " machinist...I figure...1/3 the standard machinst hr.rate !! Anyway...I hope some enjoy my " cartoons "...and do not consider them a waste of bandwidth !!!.. BEAM

Note...No results with the LDALM yet...waiting on 2mm lenses.

    Default Terrawatt...the Koherent K9

Glad you like the cartoons...Albiet some are not quite PC...too bad...I've done some doooozies !!

Terrawatt is fine...She is a completely spoiled dog...who loves to ride in the car....and get comfortable on the couch !!! Wadda life !!! Cats to screw with, other family dogs to chase, laser beams look at...personal grooming to do when board ( questionable behavior) ...and a Lab to run !!! It's ALL good....Dogs are great !!!

    Beam

    Note...A 445 LD - Prism corrected beam just happens to be 11mm wide at 25' ( 7.6 M)...did some measurements tonight...so IMHO...the G71 has equalled the 445 !! " Fry those Earthlings !!! "

Just a question. That 445 beam seems a little wide and more like the raw output divergence. What kind of magnification are you using?

Well...My 445 set up uses the standard Brewster Angle on prism set from the p1t8ull group buy...beam propagated thru an O-like glass coli. I am under the impression this set up is the standard beam correction for the 445. Any other PL member....feel free to jump in here and post what your beam geometry is at 25' !!! I surly do not want to " Gild the Lily " here !!! I have tried to remain objective concerning the G71...BEAM

My 445 is about 12mm @ 25 ft, CD. (1.18 mrad div) - using 405G2 coli lenses and my strange and non-standard single roof prism set-up.

Sure is nice to have a 638 red small dot now that'll smoke stuff if it gets in the way!!! (Yes I enjoy testing laser power on cardboard . Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling )

No, that's not a pointer.. it's my calibrated 532nm DPSS Reference Instrument

my 445 setup is 16mm at 22m, mind you i use a steep angle on the prisms, best i can get my 638 at that distance is 25mm

That's pretty good on the 638 red Badger. Assuming you ap is ~4mm, that's .95 mrad diverg if I calculated correctly. Are you using prisms or c-lenses ?

oops that should have bee 28mm apeture on the 638 is around 4.5mm i make that 1.06mrad.
and my 445 is .45mrad but it does have a 5x5mm apeture beam
and i have a freak aixiz lens on it, and it the only one of my lens that give that sort of beam the other 5 are shit
