I realize this thread has drifted away from this subject though not of any extensive time.
I am not a machinist but have blown glass and I wonder how would annealing the aluminum help in this stability matter?
I have seen some fantastic pictures of diode arrays built by chad out of brass and he had annealed them.

CDB- I should have one of Dave's 2mm fl lenses any day now. I'm going to try it w/ Dr.Lava's cyl lenses that I have now. Where are the 6X lenses coming from? Are they the new higher magnification ones that Dr.L was mentioning a few posts back? Or something else? I hope they're not the ones in the GB. That could take forever to get those :/

i'm also waiting for dr lava glass any day now, the "normal" magnification ones.

my dual knife edge is set and emmiting photons using dave's 2mm lens.
so, all i need to do is pop the lava cyls in the beam.

    anxious, anxious!!

Hi Everyone out there, well I was away busy as hell for ages, not even a moment spare to look here but started to wonder whatever happened with the red and happy the worked continued.

Anyway, happy new year to you all.

Dave, your mount looks very familiar.

I am going to have a crack at this again and will as usual, if I make any progress will post results for everyone.

Had a few months to think of a nice cool new way to stick loads of these diodes together and soon as I get 10 units of the 500mW I will give it a shot even if the beam is a little fat.

    Cheers to you all.

    Andy

And Dave from LSP, going back over a conversation from the other day about glueing in lenses, I am wondering something, if you made the hole smaller for the lens so you would need to hammer it in place, then dip the mount in liquid nitrogen to shrink it, drop the lens in then warm the mount up again, wont that do the trick?

I guess now its time to source the 500mW versions in a big way.

I will see what I can do in the morning.

A last known price for the 500mW version was ?

Yes the micro lens turned out to be 1.9mm so Daves will work perfect enough.
