that little lens looks like it came from a cd tray.
hmm this is interesting these correction plus the 500mw version we could make some great beams.
i going to be finishing my projector by the 31st if these are that great i need to get one asap.

Had a bit more fun, no picks this time cos its too dark for my camera.

I put a 2x collimator on the beam after the optics and ended up with a beam like 4mm and similar divergence to a 1mw laser pointer.

hey andy that first lens is it a short fl lens ??
When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.

Yikes x Yikes !!! I am also confused !!!! I am hopeful that the results can be duplicated !!! But somewhat guarded !! I am always overly optomistic !!! And need to be more scientifically displined !! For one thing...the plano concave lense is in the reverse orientation I have mine. See attached pic. Perhaps I have mine in the wrong direction ?? I don't think I do....but in the area of optics....I am continually humbled !!!

Possible the use of the O-Like aspherical collamination lens is a magic bullet ???? I am using the 405-G 2. I am quite impatient to find out much more details.

Also...I do not understand this statement Andy..." Cracked it with, 2mm at the diode 12mm at 38meters. Will take some better photos later. " What is the exact beam geometry

    at 38M....that is a long way away !!! ALMOST 125 feet... !!!!

CDBEAM....Confused....and perhaps out of focus too !!!

ADDED NOTE !!!!WHAT IS THIS " LITTLE LENS" ( LL) Yes....need information......FL = 2..right ?....Losses thru the LL ????? Where to get LL ??????????

What part do you not understand?

The o-like and G2 are not good for this job.

Another lens is required but as yet we don't know what it is because it was just one that happened to be in a pile. Identification is in progress and also testing the 500mW version will soon follow.

i swear that looks like the focusing lens from the 8x blu ray sled.
If it is from a sled optic i have saved every single optics from every sled i have ever used.
If you can get a macro shot or a very close up pic i will compare it to my collection

Just out of curiosity Andy which 0-like lens was this? I looked at their site and all their red lenses seem to be plastic :/

Sorry to remain a bit of a wet blanket, but I am having difficulty understanding this extraordinary performance. Even when you were testing with just an O-like which you said produced a clipped 1mm x4mm initial beam you were still getting 1/2 the best divergence others were reporting. Your set up may be flimsy and that's OK, but if you are using the same baseline toward the tree then you must be striking a target a significant distance beyond this point. Are you having to redirect the beam to a point closer to the ground in order to measure the far field dimensions? I had asked before about your beam dimensions after the last optic. Was that 2mm x4mm producing 0.3 x 0.125 mrad? I hope this works out.
