ML520G71 779mW at 1050mA double its rated power, my god.

I am wondering now what the hell the ML501P73s will do maybe 1,2watt at 1500mA.

And yes 6388 for $61 is dam cheap

now that the opnext is down in price are they better to work with?
im trying to get at least 500mw of red.
i am usin a cube setup atm with 2 lpc-826 driven each at 310mw. so would the opnext be better?

Its a little close, 2 x 6388 will be less than 500mW, if I remember they are rated at 170mW but can be pushed to 250mW and after a PBS two of these at this power would be < 500mW and you askd for at least 500mW so no is the realistic answer if you planned to use only two.

I believe that you 're thinking of the 63133.
I have 2 6388s, they are rated at 250mw factory spec @400ma. I have pushed them to 495ma and they delivered 300+mw ea .
They also have a small (20um) emitter which is 1/2 the size of the 520G71.
    The 63133 (170mW) is single-mode though, vs the multimode 250mw 6388.

That's right but anyone thought to knife edge a load of laser pointers, these are as cheap as buying red diodes and have a very tiny exit beam and usually very low divergence.

Am sure it would be quite simple to make mounts just for these then do a huge GB for some thousands to get an amazing low price.

As an example to knife edge 12 x 150mW pointers ~1800mW and a very small space required.

remove the little driver boards and drive a load of them just like a bunch of blue or red diodes are being run from say a Lava P3.

I have 4 different kinds of these 12mm laser pointer modules here that I was testing for use in a mini RGB. They all have 2 things in common, very instable operation and bad modulation. Only 1 has a IR filter and puts out 50mW @ 1.2mrad divergence and 1mm diameter @ the aperture and even runs @TEM00.
