i just hope and pray i know the device these are going into if so what ever asking price is on them is worth every penny.
Would make sense why they are so hard to get hands on atm with the demand to get the product on the market.
The only places you can get them are asking well over 500$ one wants over 1,000$
So if you want them at a decent price were still looking around, but maybe some people here should start buying and testing all the hybrids laser/led video projectors.
There are several on the market, yes some of them cost over 1,400$ but what may be inside them could be worth a heck of alot more.

There are two promising looking modes from BenQ and Optoma that I plan on picking up. Hoping to see red and blue diodes in them.

That is the way to do it!
I kinda hate when people hide and try to keep things that could revolutionize this hobby.
I just love these red diodes.
I cant believe they took this long to tame.
i think im going to start using these with my 445nm diodes as well for dual setups and quads with amazing beam specs.
a dual 445nm at 2W plus a quad 635nm at 2W plus dual 532nm 500mw lasers.
Should make for a decent projector.
The biggest thing is to match all the beams to the green lasers.
Its not huge but enough to light up a indoor show with no fog.

I've been testing the G71 diode now for over 5 months running it at >800mA with an output above 600mW with no sign of degradation. Looks promising. Just getting ready to glue Dave's lens in the retainer and start summore testing w/ the Lavalenses. Will post the results soon..

Well, CDBeam started this thread about 6 months ago, so for an R&D Team such as we have here, that's not too bad for a project of this magnitude. Quite ambitious.. Of course if we had a boss breathing down our necks it'd be quite different, I'm sure

800ma huh?
Thats about 50ma more than me and at 750ma im getting just a tiny bit over 515mw.
And i thought a member who wanted to driver his at 850ma was a bit much but maybe not.
I wish we had a murder fund going on where we leave a diode on constant for weeks till it dies. i think if we TEC these to 15C they would last a very long time.

Yup, 825 to be exact.. Just tried new Daves lens with my 'old' set of Lavalenses and son-of-a b ... looks like a dpss round dot .. man .. if it wasn't so late and I had to get some sleep for work tomorrow i'd def be off with the scales to take some measurements ....
Anybody worked with the new higher-mag Lavalenses yet? Are they bettah ? ..
PS- just thought I'd add that the rotation on the Lava cyl lenses is difficult.. has to be spot-on .. y'all heve a good nite .. zzzzzz....

GOOD results fellow Knights !!

With the new 6X Cylinderical lenses from Kiyoukan, coupled to the 2mm fL Collimation lens from Dave…My resulting beam geometry is an mrad of 1.05 !! Nearfield 2mm x 4mm. At 4.3 meters (14 ')… the Farfield is approx 8.5mm square. ( Yes…I will experiment with a greater Farfield in the next few days ). These are the BEST results I have obtained with the G71 yet. First lens is about 33mm from the Collimation lens front. Plano to Plano separation about 62mm. See attached drawing of the lens holder.

All I can say is the beam geometry is equal to my green DPSS. The pics do not really do the comparison justice. Turns out that my green DPSS has the most divergence in my RGB…NOT the blue.

I am going to have to “Raise the Bar" a little. All along I stated that my goal was to equal the divergence of the prism corrected 445…but…consider this;

The integration of this G71 red set up into any projector means that the red beam geometry will have to be equal to OR be less than the WORST divergence in any given color in that projector !!! It does NOT matter WHAT color that is !!! For this Red Set UP....I think I have arrived.
As the pics show…the red disc, although slightly less defined in the pic, and having some slight vertical wings is equal to my DPSS output

All I can say is that....when viewing it in person....the G71 geometry is on par with my Green DPSS....and therefore when viewing the combined RGB output from my projector...the G71 would be seamless integrated as a red source.
There remain some slight vertical wings... that I have lessened...but not completely eliminated with the pinhole augmentation. The pinhole causes almost no mW loss. The pinhole is really a 4mm wide by 2mm tall slot placed about 30 mm after the front convex lens.

Is the G71 the Grail ??? Well…It is NOT the Fail…THAT much I will say. The next step will be to construct a more permanent unit…and swap out my 640nm Laserwave unit. The Laserwave has a pre dichro PO of 394 mW and a very tight geometry…better than my Green DPSS.

Your layout there is wonderful, nice and clean setup.

You could try a particle filer after the 2mm lens to clean it up better or put your pinhole before the collimator.
