Go look at opnext single mode diodes.(they cost even more for far less)
And from the testing that was done before (there were 10 sold on open market) they have near identical emitter size and specs.
    Cant wait to get these.
I have no doubt they can be pushed to 750mw to 1w

true that nothing beats an amazing beam shows, you can draw all the cool things you want but a 20W RGB projector beams are way better.

Good point another thing is overdriving them is risky with these prices. If you overdrive a mistubishi why not overdrive an opnext single mode to lets say 225 mw? Not allot of people would take the risk with the opnext. Anyone interested in loosing 125 usd?

risky at 135$? are you in the right hobby?
It took me a long time but im used to that price.
Even if you dont push it thats still going to do safely 750mw in a analog projector application.
    Worth the money.
    More power!

Yes risky, i mean not many people want to loose that kind of money on experimenting. Plenty of post arround here starting like this: He guys i want to build a cheap RGB......... or looking for a cheap........ Not anything wrong with that but it usually comes to this: Want to have the comfort and luxeary of an expencive car then 9 out of 10 times you need to pay for it
At least that is my experiance in live. But back to the topic what is the emitter size of the 73,s?

Well for cheap why not paly with LPC diodes?
They are like 5$ but for the best IMHO i think these 500mw diodes are going to be close to that limit for us.
If they are anything like the 10 that were sold some time ago then they are going to be great.
Even still some dont think we should be pushing the 300mw to 550mw but they have been doing it just fine.
The biggest issues is now we need a good TEC driver that is simple and able to keep our diodes at a nice 15C
As long as you keep the temp right these diodes should see a very long and happy life.
The multimode diodes seem to be alot stronger than the single mode diodes. some even have more protection than ever before built right in that make a lasorb not even needed.

I agree think most diodes can be pushed harder at the right temperture but not many want to take that risk because they simply can,t afford of buying a new diode of 125 usd. Looking forward to see youir tests of an overpowered HL63133DG opnext. It seems that you have no problem with loosing 125 usd

    I bought four--waiting on Kiyoukan's group buy optics to make a 4 Watt 635!
