From memory it was something to do with the input resistance of many Chinese lasers being incorrect (not just Laserwave) and that resulted in common DAC's such as those used by Pangolin not outputting a full power signal. I believe LW corrected it pretty quickly.
I too am surprised that we hear so little about LW round here these days as Bridge always gave top service and his lasers were always good, one or 2 temporary production niggles apart when 640 was introduced.
Before Kvant brought out the modulation improvements, I'd have always bought LW if building. For anyone who can't afford Kvant they've got to be one of the best manufacturers out there.
My biggest RGB projector is 40x30x25 centimeters.
Inside it has (CW measured):
- 1.3W green (Laserwave)
- 1023mW blue (445nm) (Kvant)
- 917mW red (640nm) (Kvant)

my RGB analogue projectors:
3.9 W (640/532/445) 30kpps
2.6 W (655/532/450) 30kpps
2.5 W (638/532/450) 30kpps
0.7 W (test unit)(635/532/473) 18kpps
I don,t have them ready yet but my projector case is 380mmx300mm x 200mm. It will have a 1 watt CNI green and a 1.4 watt 637nm and 2 watt of blue 445nm
The divergence of this projector will be between 0.65 and 1mrd and DT30,s on board. Total power : 4.4 watt and 3 watt ballanced.
Greens are ordered and the 8 combiner tec cooled red an blue are being build in about 6 weeks from now.
Mine's a ten inch square cube. 5 million watts. How's that for ya' Borg? :]
It would be nice if people can tell there (balanced) powers after the apurture, instead of quoting each miliwatt they think there projector will make
Everyone can put multi watts lasers in a shoebox, the hardest thing is to get all that power out of the apperture.
The more power you use the harder this gets (due to beam size, combining multiple, etc)
Well that's an interesting question and the answer for me is quite concerning! I had no idea I was loosing so much power...
I am using Laserwave dichros: 532 -> 660 -> 445 -> DT30 (small mirrors) -> Edmunds AR glass (no tilt angle). The following figures are balanced for white.
EDIT: Retested at all points in the optical path, whats interesting is the maximum analog modulation levels from FB3 are only 4.65V. It appears my scanner mirrors are not that great at 445nm.
