i tried those too and they didn't connect very good, also tried this for my estop kill switch with leds and key but threw them away since they were unreliable, perhaps if there are more solid metal instead of cheap plastic ones this would be better.

Very shortly I will be introducing a product that will match the title of this thread. Its a more rugged version of what Ive used for 3 years without issue and will be very economically priced. Sold as a pair these CAT5 to ilda adaptors will send all your ilda signals and be compliant with Stanwax Ilda board to utilise the estop with start button over 2 cat 5 cables. I have used my adaptors in clubs using the cat5 cabling already in the building - which is a real nice thing at 6 in the morning to not have to pull out your cables!
    See attached images for preview
Anyone interested drop me a PM or email me at rob at stanwaxlaser dot co uk and you will go to the top of the list for priority when the product launches.

Hi Rob, is there any protection against getting the CAT5's crossed over ? or would this not generally be a problem even if you did

I found these the other day:

    http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/ps...eld/dp/CS16170

along with a short multicore cable and a line db25 plug / socket seem to be fairly durable (whilst I'm waiting for yours that is :-) )

also I remember someone on here posting a similar device they made (could of been yourself) where they'd put an LED on each box using the spare cores not used to indicate correct polarity of the RJ45's - would this LED have to battery powered or is there a voltage available on the ilda connector that could drive this LED ?

Those that you linked to have a very close resemblance to what I have used in the past. My shortly to be available versions will be rather more rugged and will not have protection against cross over as such but it will not do harm. They will be wired so that both cat 5s will need to be in for the projector to work. The cases will be clearly marked so that the ports will be easy to ID. As for an led I don't use one - I simply fit a coloured boot to one cable at each end so it's easy to see which is which. Alternatively mark one cable with a coloured cable zip tie.

Ps mine will be available in less than 2 weeks all being well.
