So do I read this correctly and does this diode do about 0,5W on the spec sheet?

Should be interesting to see how they turn out. Especially if they have the same emitter size as the 826's, these could give the 638nm powerhouses a run for their money.

On the other hand, some 638's and a few of these combined in a single box could also give a very interesting mix.

Hey Dan, I wont get involved with the testing of these diodes, I'm not experienced enough to give back the information other would need.

If they work out to be good then I'll be in for 8-10 if a group buy happens.

my view on these diodes and sorry if its not what people want to hear.

the 815's are good for 200mw with a nice long life
the 826's are good for 250mw with a nice long life
so the chances of these new 836's being over 500mw is so so slim. you can turn the power up on the 815 and 826 but the diode life just goes down and down. when i tested the 826 at 300mw on a good tec setup i only got 2days.

having said all the above if these have a good life at 300mw then excllent reds are coming along slowly

Agree with you Con...
Remember when the 826's hit... quoted to do something stupid like "726mW"...
Clearly isn't anything near that; but if we can get proper data on them, we'll know how much better, if any, they are.

Anyone who think these are rated for what that seller says "500mW+" is probably going to be dissapointed; but if they are 10%+ better than the 826's... excellent, it's a step forward.
