Hey Dan, if anyone backs out I can take a few,... if not, no sweat, I will wait to see other peoples results.
But please remember to put me in for some if you make the big order whatever happens... thanks !
I am in London for a long while now so no problems with transfers or postage.
Cheers![]()
Giving that there is at least 10% more power i would love to pick up at least 5.
As per my OP these are rumored to produce 50-80mW more than the LPC-826. That is what I am keen to discover.
I never claimed 500mW!!!
This space for rent.
they are 660nm and the old ones are 650nm? so would the extra power be wasted?
or are they all in fact 660nm and im just crazy?
they are all 660, but this does not necesarily make you crazy
even 50mw more, a conservative drive current and a long life is what i am after
such a large scale test has not happened before, do you all think we should devise some sort of test methodology?
i have aixiz glass, o-like glass (red and blue), 405-g-2 and optima to test, but i think we should focus more on drive current vs mw, temps. Maybe a couple of destruction tests?
"its called character briggs..."
true if we can get a good life at 300mw i would be happy.
i think with a good tec setup with the thermistor set at the back of the diode to keep within decent temp i should be able to keep these alive.
I'll be testing mine without a lens (but capturing all the light in the power meter).
Its just one less variable to deal with.
I've got a small test setup with a TEC/Thermistor coupled to the base; all hooks into the Melles diode driver which monitors+controls current/power/temperature.
I'll have to dust that off and fire it up![]()

From the linked website:
LPC836 380nW-576nW
(I reckon the 'n' is a typo though).
Frankly, I'd be happy with 400mW CW from a 10 buck diode, but more is better. No word on whether the power is CW or with some kind of duty cycle though.
If only these were as indestructible as the Nichia 445's and the ML638 reds... I mean, you can pretty much wire those straight to a battery with a resistor.
