Sure, but isn't that what the test at FLEM confirmed? That they did indicate what they might do on paper?

Moreover, this isn't as complicated as you might think. It's all a matter of physics. There's force, there's mass, there's acceleration, there's friction, etc. Once all of these are quantified, you plug them into a formula and a result comes out. When this result is confirmed with real-world tests, then that's that. If the result isn't confirmed, THEN you must look for an unaccounted variable. This "rev 1, rev 2" is indeed an unaccounted variable. I'll be happy to revisit this once I see "rev 2" with my own eyes...

    Question

    Hi all

So, I'm looking for a new set of good Galvos.
If is worth the waiting, I wait for Pangos but not forever.
Remember Mr. Perfect they are not for NASA, I now you like to be perfect and to met NASA specs.
But for good shows, I don't need 100% perfect Galvos just reliable ones.
And I'm glad you are. (I'm still have a working QM32 and a very nice LD2000 intro.)

So, any time frame for this to come out?

    Best regards,
    Eduardo

    Hi Eduardo,

Since you addressed this to me, at least indirectly (with the word Pangolin) I'll give you my direct response.

Whenever anyone asks me a question along the lines of yours, I always respond "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"!

Also, since this thread is supposed to be about the EMS-7000, I would not like to discuss our developments in this thread. I'll be happy to give you details if you contact me directly at www.pangolin.com/contact

In any event, certainly there are a lot of choices and in a lot of price ranges. In fact, earlier in this thread, the question was posed for someone to be forthcoming with the price of DT-40, as well as Cambridge and EMS-7000. You can certainly look into this and make a choice from the available options if you need something quickly.

By and large, people on this particular thread seem satisfied with the EMS-7000. I personally don't have any problem with the scanner or the pricing. My only beef was with the advertising.

Hey I said that firrrrst! I want the PITA Award, mine! ..what, too many smileys?

jk, Anyhoo, @ P'fessor Roberts, I will try and get our set of 7Ks to-you sometime next week.. they are, btw, 'the PL GB rev', so... not sure if these will be the 'most-definitive' set to use.. Though, certainly, if we can get EMS to directly-send you a set of the 'latest and (purportedly) greatest', it will be interesting / good to have both 'sets of data', for this piranha-frenzy...

because when I bought them from OSLS it said

    2 EMS-4000 Infinity 30K Scanners with 99% Dielectric Mirrors
    2 EMA-1200 Servo Amplifier Cards
    2 Scanner Mounting Brackets
2 Cables Sets (Scanner to Servo, Power, and Signal)
    Supports 6.5mm apertures
    55 Degree Scan Angle
to me if you advertise a scanner as 30kpps it should be able to do the ILDA test pattern at AT LEAST 8*...

like I said, I am not unhappy with them, I wish the mirrors were larger and the scanners were faster but they do a good enough job so I have not complained

again I ONLY jumped in this thread because people were questioning my power supply

And I quote to the ILDA test pattern „The 12/30K indicates the output speed for this test pattern in points per second. Your image source must output points at 12,000 or 30,000 points per second (+/- 1%) for this test pattern to work.“ and I rest my case!! As I have repeatedly stated and with the use of a little common sense one would realize that one can’t tune a tweeter with the tools for a woofer. To make it short, This pattern is not suited for tuning 60kpps scanners at any angle! So technically speaking there is no such thing as a 60kpps scanner @ ILDA!!

Thanks for the link Mr. Benner, nice reading!

Why don't you tell us how you really feel?

BTW, do you have any good tweeter tuning tools I can borrow?

All the features of the ILDA pattern work at any freqency. But the intention of the ILDA pattern was also another one, and this is where this statemant comes from: You tune to 12k or 30k which were standard speeds at some time and than every show recorded and played at 12k or 30k looks the same on every projector. You will anyway have a hard time finding e.g. 60k beamshows. Shows that rely heavily on optimization such as ballistic points tuned at 30k (ILD SOS is doing that if I recall right) will look completly different when run at 60k.
