unless im reading the two spec sheets wrong doesnt the ML520G71 have more power and a slightly better beam?

I found that the wings issue came more down to the retainer used than the actual lens used. I had the best luck with some press in style glue retainers that have the least restriction on the diode side of collmenating.

Still having trouble getting rid of the "wings". It seems as though a lot of the power is in the "wings". If the "wings" are masked off and a power measurement is taken before and after the mask there is a big difference. Like around 25% depending on how close the mask gets to the main beam.

Anyone having luck with the "wings"?

The 6388 has a smaller emitter.

OK...I am still trying to get my head around the idea of using both Cylinderical Lenses AND Anamorphic Prism's to beam correct. I must say that at this point I am hopeful that a slightly higher magnification on Cylinderical lenses....say to 6X will get us to where we wanta go.....without the additional losses associated with prism's...but...I will experiment some myself with this dual beam correction combination. Thanx !!

The cylinders and prisms are magnifying at 90 deq to each other. - - - before cylinders, O O O after cylinders, OOO after knifing, lll after prisms.

Didn't measure the tri setup with the "wings" blocked. I did measure a single diode with the 40g-g-1 lens.... anywhere from 12-26% loss depending on how far the mask was from the setup and how close to the center of the beam.

As far as I can tell, the "wings" are not just reflected light bouncing off the retainer. They actually carry the image of the emitter to some extent.

I was able to clean up the wings alot by re-centering the diode in the mount. With the 3mm fl thor lens it was really easy to tell where center is. Not so much with the 4mm 405-g-1.

So anyone toyed around with the P73 yet?

Still in a split for now whether I should go for the ML501 or one of the Opnexts for my first red...

WOW! a long die open can 635 with a rated 1.0W pulse. 7x35 degrees isn't bad either. Bet it has a huge emitter, though.

Rumor has it same size emitter as the ML520G71. Yep 500mw CW. Impossible to find. A lucky few got some from o-like before they sold out, and they were scattered on ebay for a short while. Maybe it was rayfoss who had a few too .

Isn't 50Hz/33% duty cycle pulse pretty much what we're doing in regular show conditions? Especially with shows which run on analog modulation.

I have yet to find a frame which uses 100% laser on time and no blanking.

    Default Unicorn Status...LD-ML501P73 ????

Allrighty....Has ANYONE gotten their hands on a ML501P73 ???? What is going on with this ???? Production problems ?? Quality problems ?? ANY info at all on this LD ???? !!! My concept of a QuadRed is contingent on four (4) of these LD's....driven to spec !!!
