Default Help. Problem with LS Showeditor

    Hello all,

I recently purchased Laserworld showeditor 2011 and interface.
Now I have installed the software but everytime I try to load it it says that I need to connect the usb interface and dongle but the interface is already connected and I didn't receive a dongle with the package (I was kinda under the impression you didn't need a dongle with the 2011 version correct me if I'm wrong)

I'm running it on dual core 4gb ram windows 7 32bit

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or anything that I need to do?

    Thanks for any help

    Regards
    Adrian

[edit] I think it might be missing drivers for the usb device if that helps but am unable to find any

I never had any problem about system request like "Please insert dongle"..... You do not need any dongle, because "dongle" is already electronically included inside your LUMAX USB interface.

You try to unistall everything, clean the system registry and re-install from the beginning.
Watch out to install correct LUMAX USB device drivers! (32bit or 64bit/win7)
I have the same PC configuration of your. Everything works great to me.

If you should continue to have problems, you can try to shoot a mail to Showeditor's father.... Mr. Erich Hans.

Ok I have been having a look through the system registry and can't find anything there, anyone know what LS would have put anything under?

Usually this is enough to run a new software installation without any problem.

I meant: for a deep cleaning, you have to uninstall the software completely (drivers also) and reinstall all from the beginning, taking care to load the right USB drivers for your O.S. (Win7).

While I've never used the LS show software, their use of FTDI's chip set stirred some deep memories.
    So:

FTDI has a utility software for free download on their website that handles port numbering and configuration issues on their older USB chips. It allows you to "de-conflict" them from other USB drivers on the system and change the virtual port number.

Early FTDI drivers incremented the port number every time you plugged the USB plug in. This gets annoying fast. It may be part of your problem with the "request for dongle"

Go to Windows, go to the hardware manager, see if you have USB conflicts.

    Steve
