    Default Learning how to animate

Any one have an idea on how I can learn to animate with QS. I'd love to be able to do the type of show that Doc did with The Riddle, but dont have a clue where to begin. I wish there where some instructional Youtube video's out there for all things laser.

By the way...if someone responds to this thread who knows, rather than writting another...can you enlighten me on how scanners are tuned? Is it done at the control board? or...with the software only? I'm pullig out my hair trying to get my 25kpps scanners to be clean using the set up on QS.

    Thanks for keepin' it coherent!

Adam Burns' scanner tuning guide is great

As for quickshow, beyond the videos that come with it it's pretty much a trial and error learning process. It's quite simple to get the hang of once you play with it for a bit.

Yeah...it is good and I even have it printed, but here's the ingnorant part...what 3 adjustments are we working with here? In other words where are they...on the cuircuit board? How rediculus does that sound?

As far as animation. I'm getting the hang of manipulating cues in time, but actually drawng moving pictures (The Riddle)...where on earth do you start? Does this all happen in the QS animation platform or are images scanned in and linked together?

    Tanks for the re-ply!!!!

    KEEP it COHERENT!

    Use the "Animate Button".

Draw your 1st frame, then your last, then click "Animate", then make sure you have the number of frames set to the number you want, click OK.

    Video:

It can make mistakes on more complex shapes or drawings so frames might need some hand editing which can be time consuming. That said, you often don't see small mistakes in single frames.

To chain together animations, just use the last frame in your last animation as the 1st frame in your new animation, add a frame draw in the last frame of your new animation as above, click back on the 1st frame of the new animation (the last frame of the old) and click animate once more selecting the number of frames etc.

I forgot to add, as there's no undo (you can delete frames though), it might be an idea to work on a copy each time. You can always delete duplicate files later.

Normally you would have a scanner amp board with the pots you need to adjust for tuning on them. Look at where the wires that are connected to the galvo's go, that should be your scanner amp. Unless everything leads to one circuit board like it did in my old Chinese, in which case you are screwed (but I doubt this). Is there an user manual around for your type scanners?

I don't have QS but normally you don't create shows frame by frame. This is the way it used to be done and some people are still doing this, but that's not how you want to do things. Shows like The Riddle are usually traced by a trace program. I don't know how Dr Laser did it but it is possible he had to trace each frame separately.

Yep, the Riddle was traced from a youtube video. With LaserCam you can trace this live to laser with little effort, or with a little more effort with Traceit frame by frame. Most of the effort went into the original animation creation process by the artist that made that video, however.

Hey...thanks Doc...is LaserCam an independant software/periferal? Is Traceit the same deal...additional software? Thanks for your time. Happy holiday!
