Gave me chills there for a second.![]()

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.
That's some awesome artwork there. Hope it becomes a reality.![]()
It is all done in solidworks so there are real numbers behind the drawings. The 'puck' is 1" x 2". I have a cnc machine shop so I can go down and mill it out.
The big hold up is the axicon and the fact that I have managed to bake all of my high power diodes.![]()
I know this is going to need some sort of adjustment but i really want to try it without it. The only other design caution i can see is if you removed the axicon with the diodes on you would instantaneously have 4 dead diodes.
4 diodes facing each other = bad
Oh and thanks

That was the one thing I saw that made me hesitate. Could put some kind of sensor in there that will not them it lase without something there, preferably the axicon. Some kind of pressure sensor behind the axicon.
Give it some kind of angle, or the diodes rather so they are not head on.
My idea is just to make the axicon shorter so it sits in a pocket in the puck. That should't be a big deal. The goal is not to have to adjust any thing.
NO!That complicates things greatly. makes machining (both the axicon and the mount ) a real bitch. Lots of tricky angles.

I am not really taking this too seriously. It is just fun to think about. I have spent so much time in front of this computer doing design work that a distraction such as this is nice. I am not trying to compete with anyone I just am having fun.
Anyway here is a little thinking out of the box.
