    Default LSX noob

Sorry if this is considered spam but I thought it deserved a new thread. I just started playing with LSX and I think my setup works just fine so far. I'm basically using a riya lite dac and Lsx lite. The only laser I have hooked up is a 473nm ~130 mW DHOM dpss with TTL modulation. I've tried many shows and have noticed something that bothered me. Every circle or square has at least one gap somewhere. So a circle is not a perfect circle but the end does not meet the start. You get the point. Is it the laser itself? Being too slow to start/turn off, thus it leads to gaps? Bad tuned galvos? ( I have pt 30ks which have glue on the knobs so they seem to be china tuned; I didn't mess with them yet ) Some kind of setting in LSX? Or nothing of the above? ^^
Here is an image I made myself off a sonic logo. You can see another gab there. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9693610/phot...ic_pattern.JPG

Also, how can I make an rgb show display everything with only one laser? I went to the color palette and chose the option which makes all colors white so more things showed up with blue. Though not everything. Is there a way to fix that until I get my green and red running? I've got a lot of questions and thought I'd start with these 2. Thanks in advance.

Hi, the ends not meeting is a combination of scanner tuning and the scanning optimization settings page which allows LSX to deal with different scanner tuning. You should tweak those settings until you get closed circles and squares, etc. Then save them.

For one laser color (blue) you should go into the DAC settings to the color mapping page and turn up all the color sliders in the blue box.
While you're there, explore all the other settings pages, and read the help button in the 'output targets' page.

Thanks for your reply, Andrew. Tuning the galvos is out of the question. At least for now. The knobs came with glue on them and I don't think I could achieve a better projection with the knowledge I possess. I might try it out sometimes in the future though.
Here are two pictures of the test pattern @ 30k.. Sorry for the crappy quality but that's the best I can get. It seems right ( the circle in the center ) but there is a gap on the outside square as you can see. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9693610/phot...stuff/30k1.JPG

understood. by 'tweak those settings' I was referring to the scanning optimization settings page in LSX, specifically the preblanking and post blanking points.

Yeap I know what you mean. Being a bit more specific would save me some time and effort :P What exactly am I looking for when adjustin those?

Try reducing the scan size (angle) a little.

If that doesn't work, try reducing the scan speed to 25K.

If its not software related it might be just that the scanners are pushed a little too far.

I saw something similar with my LM's. Reducing scan speed to 25k from 30k did the trick.

buy CT scanners...it's the only way
for precise graphics only the HP does well its job
this is what I understood when I entered in the laser projectors world.

Not everyone has that much money.. And I'm not doing professional laser shows yet. No idea if I'll be finding myself playing this this stuff next year anyway hehe.
