    Default Galvo/Servo Power Supply Suggestions....

I need the "smallest physical size dimension wise".. power supply's, that will work with - and fully supply this Servo Driver that I have attached.

The projector this in going into is very limited in size!

So far no luck...in searching on many sights so thought I would ask here

I have attached the Servo driver and the scanner's that it will be driving.

    Thanks for any help

    i don't see any attachments.
so you are looking for a small form factor psu for the galvos so depending on the galvos are +/- 12 ,+/- 15 ,+/- 24
I have found it hard to find a small form factor galvo psu myself.
I have thought about making one but don trust myself enough.
If someone has a source i too would like to get some.

I am inquiring about it with this company... http://ipdpower.com/ He does custom design also I have gotten 1 response back so far and he asked me "Which voltages do I require, ±15V or ±24V? How much current do I require on each of the outputs?

My reply was this >> I think the unit I am trying to get the power for "see attached" It reads, Power Supply Requirements are +/-15 to +/-28VCD ---- And Maximum Drive Current Limit is 10 Amps Peak, 5 Amps rms (power supply and load dependent)

I am assuming the unit will just pull what it needs when it needs it? Is that how you read it?
If that is the case I think going with the ±24VDC or ±28VDC would be the way to go?

If you do have something that will work with this, would the power supply also be able to have a switching frequency above 100kHz so any switching noise would be above the control bandwidth of the servo?

I am a novice and still have much to learn LoL

i would go with 24V over 28 do not want to create to much heat.

Considering the Cambs need a bit more heat then the clones, I'd consider 24 volts or greater, Cambs can need as much as 4 amps peak per galvo for a few milliseconds with large angle jumps, again, more then the clones. The price of speed. That is why it says 10 Amps peak. So I'd go with at least 24V and 6 amps per rail. That means 12 amps total. Yes, its overkill, but I often see 2-4 amp switching supplies sag in cheap systems. Usually with Cambridges, you hang two 3000-4000 uF low ESR filter caps off each of the switchers, to handle the peak surges, that also attenuates the switching noise.

Cambridges need seperate power and signal grounds, with short, thick wires back to the power supply.

LOW ESR caps take you out of "small" packaging

I have found a power supply...and I would like some opinions on.... if it will work with these galvos.

I contacted Cambridge Technology They told me this is what is needed to supply the galvos >>> You will need to supply +24V and -24V to the board at ~8.2A per supply.

The specs are attached... on the power supply I have found. Any help is much appreciated
