    Default I call it the "flaser"

    Flaser = fake + laser

    I've been wanting to try this for awhile..... Took the phosphor wheel from a ca$io projector and focused a 445 diode on it. Then seperated the light given off with a dicro. I was hoping for a strong green phosphorescence but got green yellow and even red. Too cool. Not very paractacle for a light show because its impossible to catch much of the light, but cool to try if you have a wheel around. Oh and make sure the wheel is rotating or the phosphor will burn of instantly.

    What a neat idea! Kudos!

    With some more tweaking you could use that extra "beam" for lumia. It would give you some more colors.

    Be sure to take some pics. You will probably have better luck going through the DG. A prism would be better. you need to try to separate the colors.
    You also might want to play with the angle of that dicro. You might be able to find one that blocks most of the 445 and lets some higher blues through.
    Just a thought. Do you have a spectrometer? I would love to see what that phosphor actually fluoresces.

    edit, also the smaller you can make the spot the tighter you can image it. I would also imagine that a shorter focal length you might be able to capture more of the
    fluoresce light. ?

    it's not coherent... it's neat (especially those reds), but my guess is it will be useless for lumia.

    please prove me wrong

    suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

    I have been so swamped with work I haven't had the time Haven't even been reading new posts here.

    Probably gonna have to wait till next winter. DTR gave me a few wheels if anyone wants to try I will send them one. I really think it could be something cool because the focused spot is so small the focused beam really is "laser like". The power density is higher than a LED due to the small spot on the disk. I think if I could have got the disk rotating faster the "halo" around the spot would diminish some and the divergence would go down.
