    I tried this was a 405nm diode and it was crazy bright..

    Interesting about not focussing it on one small section, can't say I ran into that problem.
    I suspect that the material may simply be ZnS:Cu:Cl as EL gives similar results.

    I am curious how this would work as a replacement color system and light source in a DMX scanner. How much light is getting generated? Some of those old scanners use a 250W halogen.... tons of heat and short bulb life. I have a scanner that I would love to mess around with something like this in it.
