The reason I use the 15" monitors is because of my lighting desk. On a 15" monitor, the playbacks line up perfectly with the faders on my Chamsys PC Wing. Having standardized touchscreens across my laser and lighting setups means I can mix and match in a pinch. I'm yet to think 'Oh, I could do with a bigger monitor' for either application. I find that I tend to hang mty hand on the top of the monitor bezel and hit cues with my thumb. On a 15" I can reach most bits of the screen like that. Probably not on a 17", and definately not on a 19"+.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

I love seeing setup photos like this. Does anyone else have backstage photos of their setups (controllers and lasers)?

    Thanks for the ideas guys...
I ordered a Viewsonic 22" widescreen touch montitor. It was cheap at $299.00 and returnable if it's too big.
When it shows up I'll post a picture of how it looks.

I have been using an ELO 15" touchscreen (the type you see on shop tills) for the past 4 years at shows and it has never let me down... Just like Mr Briggs I have the cue grid (LivePRO) on the touchscreen and the rest on my laptop screen controlled with a Novation MIDI desk... If I could change one thing, it would be the orientation of the touch screen, I find it awkward having the screen stood upright and would prefer the rackmount idea... I was going to buy a nice 19" rackmounted screen, but some git beat me to it... Brrrrrigggs!!!!!

By the way, can someone tell me how to upload full photo's into a thread instead of thumbnails... I've only been here 4 years and still don't know how to do it

Easiest way Mark is host them here (make sure you don't let the host resize them unless you want that - the size option is in the upload screen):

    www.imageshack.us

Then paste the "Forum" code into the board here (not the thumbnail code).

The photos will then display at whatever resolution you uploaded them at.

Its sounds complex but its a really easy interface and unlike some other host eg photobucket they don't delete your photos after a certain time.

I can see I'm going to have to come to a LEM so I can have a proper snoop at how you have your LP workspaces laid out Mr Insanity

I have virtually the same setup 15" ELO with cue grid, rest on the laptop and a novation SL

Yes mate, about bloody time too You need to experience a LEM very soon...

The layout in the top pic is my current fave... Each page is built up of static frames at the top, then rows of key effects and effects, colour cycles down the middle, a couple of rows of frame based animations and finally a row of beam chases, some with hot beams and some with frames... Then a bit of clever jiggery pokery with the cue properties tab and you have almost infinite combinations on every page... This allows me to run the usual high energy shows, but slow things right down when (as YAG would say ) dubstep happens...

Anyhow, don't listen to my ramblings, get yer ar5e down to a LEM,,, I insist

Have you used the performer keyboard with livepro before? Do you prefer touchscreen or the performer out of interest?

    Yep
Not used the LivePro Performer; it's out of production now.
Touchscreen + LivePad Pro (on the iPad) combo can do anything
