I'm not sure how Rob sets these up when he ships them, if he sets everything to a base setting, then installing it should have no effect on the output, other than the fact that you now have a high impedance input for color at your projector. This is one nice feature fixed by the color board, I've seen some lasers with very low impedance input and put on a long ilda cable can cause problems. Anyway, does Rob provide test frames for setting up the boards? I think I posted a set before but if needed I'm sure I can dig them up again.

    Hi All,

I recently installed one of Rob's boards in my projector. It will take some adjustments. They're not difficult and it goes pretty quickly. I used the standard ILDA test pattern.

I had assumed that you could use any or several different test patterns and the adjustment would follow the same series of steps. Also, no adjustment is risky to the hardware, only to the success of the setup. Yes?

    That would be great, thanks.

Are you running a qm2k? If so, here was a post from a couple years ago, post #4 with the frames attached and a small proceedure for getting the board setup. If you don't have a qm2k I'll convert them to ILDA.

Well shoot, I exported the frame file in LD to an ILDA file and it looses a critical part of the image in frame 1 thru 4. The R, G, B and white color lines are suppose to fade from zero to full brightness from left to right to aid in setting gain and offset on the color board. I checked Beyond to see if I could export to QS but there doesn't seem to be an option, yet. You can still use frames 5 thru 8 though. I'm not familiar with QS or how well the frame editor may be, but in LD, you set a point marker on one side of the line and a point marker on the other, set one side to black and the other side to which ever color and select >SFX>Smooth Colors>Blend Between Point Markers. I'm not sure if you'll have similar options but maybe it will help? Photo added to show what the line in frame 4 should look like.

Ok, I installed the DZ colour board today, easy peazy.

I hope I have the adjustments correct, in the end I was focusing more on nice dots with the fans of beams, these appear much more fussy about the blanking settings.

Another nice feature of this board is the high impedance inputs and 110% maximum gain. I can now drive my modules harder from an FB3!

I will report back after tomorrow nights show with the results, but not until Sunday as it's a 3am finish this show. Zzzzzzz Zzzzzz.

I'd like to think my drivers clamp the mod input to 5v max for safety, but maybe I'm being optimistic...?

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
