No IR, the power measurement was taken with the meter 30 feet away from the aperture!

Post #51 poses some very-interesting questions, don't you think?...

..Anything from Mr Joost? My inquiry *is* real / serious... but again, I can't very-well go selling a 9W laser - if it's not... nor will we pay for such - if it's not... Sooo... any thoughts? Or just more crickets? Cuz this Client will only wait so long, before they decide to shop elsewhere...

Actually feeling sorry for Joost now, he comes here to try and flog a 9k Laser projector and gets a little "shot up" remind me to never attempt to sell Internet services here.

Yes i agree with you gashead. He is only trying to sell something. But when its a 9 watt projectors the projector should be 9 watt balanced white. This isn,t case:

    output power: 1,77 red 635nm / 2,3 532nm / 4,2 445nm
According to chroma it should have: 3 watt green , 3.5 watt red and 2.5 watt blue to get perfect white. Then it would be a 9 watt projector.

With the red that it has now the perfect white is 1.5 watt green, 1.77 watt 635 and 1.3 watt 445. So in my opinion its a 4.5 watt projector with an overkill for blue and green.

A year ago when blue was very expencive projectors where sold with to much red 650nm. Now most projectors that sold as for example 6 watt projectors have 4 watt blue and 1 watt green and 1 watt red in them. But from live experiance people want the most watts for every dollar/euro.

The downside is that when you sell a projectors balanced white people say: but i can get a 9 watt from him and yours is only 4,5 watts and even more expencive. Also divergence is very important because a lower divergence appears brighter then a flashlight But most people that buy a projector don,t know about all these things like 650 versus 637 and divergence, split level design, kpps etc.

Also when people want to do lasershows most people aren,t doing research first and want a projector right away. They compare only power versus costs.

But nevertheless 635nm is a nice red and with 4.5 watt balanced white you have a damn bright projector in white

Yes i agree with you gashead. He is only trying to sell something.
And that's fine, but why be evasive about his status as a business/hobbyist?
I'm sure he doesn't tell his client's he's just a hobbyist, why do it here? People might have a bit more confidence buying from a bona fide established business.
Maybe he's avoiding the taxman/dsli_jon on his quest for subs

Mmm yes i don,t know. Strange because fhe is a registrated company so not a hobbyist anymore.

Lately and this is something completely different, i feel the atmosfere on Pl is changing rapidly. For example Joost is just showing a nice projector and he tries to sell it. Now when showing it in action allot of people start right away with picking on him that he is doing and unsafe lasershow. But the thread isn,t about the show but just to show some beamshots.
I,m starting to be more reserved about posting things myself now because i know someone will pick on me one way or another. If you show beamshots its like: look he is doing dangerous things. If i sell something like diodes oh it must be bad ones because he did something bad a year ago so must be a bad seller or some sort of things.
I think that nobody on earth is perfect. But when you are being picked on you try to defend yourself one way or another. Now picking seem more and more the trend on PL these days not on me i think but i have seen quite alllot of posts where this is happening. In my opion this is a shame for PL because people will stay away from PL ones they read all the shit on PL.
I though the forum was for helping people out and enjoying lasers and that you could learn from eachother but lately this seems not the case anymore.

To be honest, I think this thread just represents the culmination of a number of threads by Joost, where he failed to answer questions, or was evasive, or whatever.
I'm not ragging on him for the safety of the show (I'm interested in the maths of it, and how you might predict what it might be) as that's his and his customers concern.

atmospfear over hear just fine for me

people are still helping people and people are still enjoying lasers

it is when one tries to make a "dishonest" dollar that things get sticky

    simple.

Most people don,t have a clue of what they buy. Try to explain the difference between 660 and 637 or explain what divergence does to visabilty. 30 seconds after listining to your explanation you can say jump of this cliff and they say yes. They trust their eyes but can,t tell the difference between quality and a crap laserworld. So they don,t know if its even dishonest or not. They just buy what they see and if it looks good. The diehards here on PL now all bout the technologie about lasers at least most of us. Pl is a so dam,n small community that even if not a PL member would buy 1 laser or projector again the market doesn,t even notice

But its good that people give information where they should look at before buying a laser but we al see allot of topics starting like this :

He guys i bought this laser on ebay and i have problems..........

so in a nutshell giving information to people is good and should continue but it won,t matter that much

    Just my 2 cents.............
