Just some preliminary shotz with a thrown together rig.

The distance was 114 ft, the diode was a G71 run at 826mA, Po>.5W, 5x2mm at ap, 30x50mm at 114 ft, looks like 1.29 mrad, probly could be better if the lenses were adjusted better. (That's one big pcx cyl lens !! )

I don't understand why those lenses are so huge? They should be 1/2 x 1/2.

I dunno, but holy smokes this beam set my jacket on fire at 10 ft away !!! (I'm not complaining) ..

They are much bigger than the Dr Lava lenses ..
    The big lens is about 1-3/16 x 1-1/4 ".

Firstly, thanks for the beam shots. They are inspiring. Smoke and fire are always nice, you can work on the finesse later.

I just received my lenses today and the size of the pos. cylinder surprised me too, but not a problem. Gluing the corners (while supporting the bottom edge on a parallel block) to the front of the 1" aperture of a 3 axis mount will allow very fine adjustment and orthogonal alignment.

    Beam,

How do those two beams you shot compare re. visual impact and what are their relative power levels?

Anyone do a side by side of the '73 diode and the G71 using these optics?

Default Time for justa little Toot !

PL, Red at 435mW, Green at 325mW. The green still looks brighter, but that makes sense at 532nm. The red still has some very minor vertical wings. The beams look to be of equal geometry. I have absoutely no doubt that this red will integrate into a projector and produce graphic displays. The next hurdle is to knife edge for a dual, then on to a quad. BEAM...Oh, and nice shots Steve-O

i am very excited about seeing a g73 quad of these. should be able to hit ~2 watts. that plus 445 quad and a watt or two of 532 would make for a really nice beam table.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Awesome cdbeam they fit perfectly with the 532nm dpps modules
According to chroma i need about 1200 of 637nm to fit with 1100mW of 532nm does that sound correct or...?

    Its

    G71 a 300mW 638
    &
    P73 a 500mW 638

The optics are for G71 but might also give some reasonable results for P73
