This time frame is reasonable. I am not sure why he has taken some time to respond to you, but understand his offer to provide this optic was as an organizer for a large group purchase and not as an on line retailer. Therefor, his responsiveness is as an amateur/hobbyist. You will need to have some patience. I also will need to take several days to place this optic set,but I can ship to RU and Pay Pal would work. Let's wait a bit and see.

    Hi Planters.

I too have been trying to get a set of these optics without success. If your happy to ship a set to Australia, let me know, and I can organise to pay with paypal next week.

    Cheers

Just a note. These cylinder sets are nothing special. Other than the lower cost, the performance is the same in terms of the beam product. I've tried a number of FL combinations and even a positive initial cylinder and the near field beam cross section x the far field cross section is a constant ( except that the very short FL of the group buy neg cylinder makes it harder to precisely align).

I have now received 4PMs as well as this post requesting these GB sets. I can't accommodate this many requests.

If anyone is aware of why kiyoukan has not responded to his messages, please post this.

If he is no longer able or interested in following up on this GB that's OK. We just need to know. There are other sources even though they may be more expensive or maybe there is someone who is willing to start another GB.

Now that builds are starting to come out of the works, seems like many people are now interested in these optics (like me). So, it might be a good idea to do another group buy of these again.

After doing some research I think I may have found the company these came from, still waiting to hear back about pricing.

    Hi djpsych,

I would be interested in a GB, particularly if we could also source a lens and diode holder array, which could take 2 or maybe 4 diodes and the lens together. Fairly new to the build from parts side of this so please excuse me if this is not possible or has been posted before.

For that, you are going to have to wait till kiyoukan starts selling the units he is making. Last time I talked with him a couple of weeks ago, he was on second to last semi production unit.

I would consider waiting if there will be an integrated solution coming. If you are in a hurry then I would also consider alternative lens combinations. There are spacing constraints with the very short concave cylinder (-9mm FL) that make a quad module a little more demanding to set up. In addition, the substantial difference in the physical sizes of the two GB lenses may pose some mounting compromises. Don't misunderstand these comments, these are very good lenses at a good price, but if doing this again I would modify them a little.

I am more than happy to wait - I saw your post (planters) and figured I'd get the harder to find components dealt with. However I'm in no rush for red, considering I first need to get quick show sorted, and blue and green lasers dealt with. By then hopefully kiyoukan has the integrated solution ready to purchase.

Talked with someone named Bonnie today and got the following prices back from Lighten Optics.

I was just getting pricing on two sets and here is what the cost breakout would be:
    -BK7 Plano-Concave Cylindrical Lenses with AR Coating 350-650nm (Part Number: LOCPCCB20-9.7AR-V) $24(for lenses)+$6(for AR coating on both sides) x 2 = $60
    -BK7 Plano-Convex Cylindrical Lenses with AR Coating 350-650nm (Part Number: LOCPCXB32-60AR-V) $26(for lenses)+$6(for AR coating on both sides) x 2 = $64
    -DHL Shipping - $35
-Western Union Money Transfer Fee - $14
Total: $173 (for two sets of lenses)

They said that they have all the lenses in stock, but they do not have AR coating on them. They have a machine that cost $150 to coat one side of optics and can hold 50 pieces, so basically $3 a side (when 50 pieces are in the machine). If you don't purchase 50 or over, they cannot guarantee the lead time and will just work your AR coating in when someone orders a smaller quantity (so your wait could be 1 week, 4 weeks, or more). I am sure I can probably talk the price down a little, but they don't seem to really like the small quantity purchases. They will definitely give you a discount for larger purchases.

Just though I would throw that out there for anyone who was interested in the details. Haven't decided on whether I am going to get two sets from them or not because of higher price and unknown lead time.
